3. Setup
Follow these steps for the initial setup of your Jura ENA 4 coffee machine.
Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove the machine and all accessories from the packaging.
- Place the machine on a stable, level surface, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine.
Water Tank and Filter Installation
- Remove the water tank from the side of the machine.
- Insert a Jura CLARIS Smart Mini water filter into the water tank as per the filter instructions.
- Fill the water tank with fresh, cold tap water up to the 'MAX' mark.
- Reinsert the water tank securely into the machine.

Bean Container Filling
- Open the aroma preservation cover on top of the machine.
- Fill the bean container with fresh coffee beans. Do not use ground coffee, instant coffee, or caramelized beans.
- Close the aroma preservation cover.
First Use and Rinsing
- Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
- Follow the on-screen prompts or indicator lights for initial rinsing. This process cleans the internal system.
- Place a container under the coffee spout during the rinsing cycle.
4. Operating Instructions
Learn how to operate your Jura ENA 4 to prepare various coffee specialties.
Turning On/Off
- To turn on: Press the power button. The machine will perform a short rinsing cycle.
- To turn off: Press the power button again. The machine will rinse and then switch off.
Preparing Coffee Specialties
The ENA 4 offers four specialties: Espresso, Espresso Doppio, Coffee, and Coffee Doppio. Simply press the corresponding button on the control panel.
- Place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Press the desired coffee specialty button (e.g., Espresso).
- The machine will grind the beans and brew the coffee automatically.
Adjusting Coffee Strength and Grind
- Coffee Strength: The ENA 4 allows for pre-selection of coffee strength before brewing. Consult the machine's display or manual for specific steps to adjust.
- Grind Fineness: The grind fineness can be adjusted using the grinder adjustment switch located inside the bean container. Adjust only when the grinder is running. Finer grind for stronger coffee, coarser for milder.

Daily Cleaning
- Empty Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and rinse these components daily or when prompted by the machine.
- Clean Coffee Spout: Wipe the coffee spout with a damp cloth.
Filter Replacement
The machine will indicate when the CLARIS Smart Mini water filter needs to be replaced. Follow the on-screen instructions for replacement and activation of the new filter.
Descaling
The ENA 4 features an integrated descaling program. The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Use only Jura descaling tablets and follow the instructions provided by the machine's display.
