4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
The YINMIK pH meter typically comes with LR44 batteries pre-installed. If not, or if replacement is needed, locate the battery compartment (usually at the top of the meter, under the yellow cap) and insert three LR44 batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
4.2. Initial Preparation
- Remove Protective Cap: Gently rotate the protective cap to the left and unscrew it from the bottom of the meter. The cap contains a sponge moistened with KCL solution; ensure this sponge remains moist for optimal probe condition.
- Clean the Probe: Before first use and before each test, rinse the electrode (spear tip) with pure or distilled water. Gently wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth or tissue.
- Power On: Press the power button to turn on the pH meter.

5. Calibration
Calibration is crucial for accurate pH readings. The YINMIK pH meter supports 3-point auto-calibration using 7.00, 4.00, and 10.01 pH buffer solutions. It is recommended to calibrate the meter regularly, especially after prolonged storage or if readings appear inconsistent.
5.1. Calibration Procedure
- Prepare Buffer Solutions: Dissolve the 7.00, 4.00, and 10.01 pH buffer powders (included) into 250ml of distilled water each. Stir until fully dissolved.
- Clean Probe: Rinse the probe with distilled water and gently dry it.
- Calibrate 7.00 pH:
- Immerse the electrode into the 7.00 pH buffer solution.
- Gently shake the meter and wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Press and hold the "CAL" button for 5 seconds until the display flashes "7.00" three times, indicating successful calibration.
- Calibrate 4.00 pH:
- Rinse the probe with distilled water and gently dry it.
- Immerse the electrode into the 4.00 pH buffer solution.
- Gently shake the meter and wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Press and hold the "CAL" button for 5 seconds until the display flashes "4.00" three times.
- Calibrate 10.01 pH:
- Rinse the probe with distilled water and gently dry it.
- Immerse the electrode into the 10.01 pH buffer solution.
- Gently shake the meter and wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Press and hold the "CAL" button for 5 seconds until the display flashes "10.01" three times.
- Completion: After all three points are calibrated, rinse the probe with distilled water and turn off the meter.

6. Operating Instructions
After successful calibration, your pH meter is ready for use. Always ensure the probe is clean before each measurement.
6.1. General Measurement Steps
- Prepare Sample: Ensure your sample is ready for testing. For semi-solid foods, ensure the sample is soft enough to insert the spear tip without damaging it.
- Insert Probe: Gently insert the spear tip of the electrode into the sample. Ensure the probe is fully immersed in the liquid or sufficiently deep in the semi-solid.
- Wait for Stable Reading: Gently stir or shake the meter slightly to ensure proper contact and wait for the reading on the display to stabilize. The reading will typically settle within a few seconds.
- Record Reading: Once the reading is stable, record the pH value and temperature displayed.
- Clean Probe: After each measurement, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water and gently wipe dry.

6.2. Specific Applications
- Sourdough and Bread Dough: Insert the spear probe directly into the dough during bulk fermentation to monitor pH levels. The ideal pH level for dough is typically between 5.00 and 6.00.

7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your YINMIK pH meter.
7.1. Cleaning the Probe
Always rinse the electrode with distilled water after each use to remove any residue. Gently wipe the probe with a clean, soft cloth or tissue. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the glass bulb.
7.2. Storage
The protective cap of the meter contains a sponge soaked in KCL (Potassium Chloride) solution. It is crucial to keep this sponge moist. If it dries out, re-moisten it with KCL storage solution (not distilled water) to prevent the electrode from drying and becoming damaged. Always replace the protective cap securely after use.
