2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions before operating the device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.

  • Ensure the power outlet voltage matches the pump's specifications (110V 60Hz for US models). Incorrect voltage can damage the pump.
  • Do not immerse the pump in water or other liquids.
  • Keep the pump away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Do not use near open flames or flammable gases.
  • Inspect the mattress pad and hoses regularly for any signs of damage or leaks.
  • This product is designed to support individuals up to 300 lbs. Do not exceed this weight limit.
  • Consult a healthcare professional for guidance on proper use, especially for individuals with specific medical conditions.

3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your Lunderg Alternating Air Pressure Mattress Pad:

  1. Unroll and Position the Pad: Unroll the mattress pad and lay it flat on the bed, either on top of an existing mattress or directly on a hospital bed frame. Ensure the air connection points are positioned at the foot or head of the bed.
  2. Connect Air Hoses: Connect the air hoses from the pump to the valves on the mattress pad. Ensure a secure connection to prevent air leaks.
  3. Plug in the Pump: Plug the pump into a standard electrical outlet.
  4. Initial Inflation: Turn the pump ON and set the pressure adjustment knob to the "Firm" setting. Allow approximately 20 minutes (or 3 full alternating cycles) for the pad to fully inflate.
  5. Tuck Excess Material: Once inflated, tuck any excess material of the mattress pad under the main mattress to secure it in place.
  6. Adjust Pressure: After initial inflation, adjust the pressure knob to your desired comfort level, starting from "Firm" and moving towards "Soft" as needed.

4. Operating Instructions

The Lunderg Air Pressure Mattress Pad offers two primary operating modes:

4.1. Alternating Mode

In Alternating Mode, the air cells within the mattress pad inflate and deflate in a cycle, continuously shifting pressure points. This dynamic pressure redistribution helps prevent and treat bedsores by promoting blood circulation.

  • To activate, ensure the green ON/OFF switch on the pump is in the 'ON' position and the orange 'Static ON/OFF' switch is in the 'OFF' position.
  • Adjust the pressure knob from "Soft" to "Firm" to control the inflation level and firmness of the mattress pad according to user comfort.

4.2. Static Mode

Static Mode keeps all air cells fully inflated, providing a stable and firm surface. This mode is useful when a stable surface is preferred, such as during transfers, dressing, or for short periods of rest from alternation.

  • To activate, ensure the green ON/OFF switch is 'ON' and then switch the orange 'Static ON/OFF' switch to 'ON'. The static light will illuminate.
  • The mattress pad will remain fully inflated in this mode.
  • To return to Alternating Mode, switch the orange 'Static ON/OFF' switch back to 'OFF'.

5. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and hygienic operation of your mattress pad.

  • Cleaning the Mattress Pad: The flocked fabric surface can be gently wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the pad is completely dry before use or storage.
  • Cleaning the Pump: Wipe the exterior of the pump with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners directly on the pump.
  • Storage: When not in use, deflate the mattress pad, fold it neatly, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sharp objects.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the air hoses for kinks, cracks, or loose connections. Ensure the pump's air filter (if accessible) is clean and free of dust.
