Your safety is paramount. This helmet is designed to provide protection in the event of an impact. Adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Always wear a helmet that fits correctly and is securely fastened.
  • This helmet complies with ECE 22.05 safety standards. Ensure your helmet meets the required safety certifications for your region.
  • Never modify the helmet in any way, as this can compromise its protective capabilities.
  • Do not expose the helmet to solvents, gasoline, or other chemicals that may damage its materials.
  • Replace your helmet after any significant impact, even if visible damage is not apparent. The structural integrity may be compromised.
  • Avoid dropping the helmet, as internal components may be damaged.
  • Ensure clear visibility through the visor at all times. Clean the visor regularly and replace it if scratched or damaged.

3. Setup

3.1. Fitting the Helmet

A proper fit is crucial for safety and comfort.

  1. Place the helmet on your head, ensuring it sits level and covers your forehead.
  2. The helmet should feel snug around your head and cheeks without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
  3. To check the fit, try to rotate the helmet from side to side and front to back. Your skin should move with the helmet, and it should not slide freely.

3.2. Fastening the Ratchet Closure System

The Airoh MATHISSE helmet features a convenient ratchet closure system.

  1. Thread the chin strap through the D-rings (if applicable) or engage the male end of the ratchet strap into the female buckle until it clicks securely.
  2. Pull the strap to tighten it until it is snug under your chin. It should be tight enough that you cannot pull the helmet off your head when the strap is fastened, but not so tight as to cause discomfort or restrict breathing.
  3. To release, press the release lever on the buckle and pull the strap out.

4. Operating the Helmet

4.1. Visor Operation

The clear visor can be easily raised and lowered.

  • To open the visor, grasp the tab at the bottom center or side and lift it upwards.
  • To close the visor, pull it downwards until it securely latches.
  • For visor removal and installation, refer to the specific instructions provided with your helmet or consult an authorized Airoh dealer.

4.2. Ventilation System

The Airoh MATHISSE helmet features integrated ventilation points to ensure airflow.

  • Locate the front and top vents on the helmet.
  • Slide the vent covers to open or close them, adjusting airflow as needed for comfort and to prevent fogging.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning the Helmet Shell

Clean the matte thermoplastic HRT shell with mild soap and water.

  • Use a soft cloth dampened with a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water.
  • Gently wipe the exterior of the helmet.
  • Rinse with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or petroleum-based products, as these can damage the finish and material.

5.2. Cleaning the Visor

The visor should be cleaned carefully to avoid scratches.

  • Remove the visor from the helmet if possible, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Rinse the visor with lukewarm water to remove loose dirt and debris.
  • Use a soft cloth and a mild soap solution to gently clean both sides of the visor.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow it to air dry, or gently pat dry with a microfiber cloth.
  • Do not use paper towels or harsh chemicals, which can scratch or damage the visor coating.

5.3. Interior Cleaning

If the interior padding is removable, follow these steps:

  • Carefully remove the interior padding.
  • Hand wash the padding with mild soap and lukewarm water.
  • Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before reinserting into the helmet.
  • If padding is not removable, use a damp cloth with mild soap to gently wipe the interior.

5.4. Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

  • Keep the helmet in a helmet bag to protect it from dust and scratches.
  • Do not store the helmet near heat sources or chemicals.
