1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Mokxihit Upgraded Duplex DMR Hotspot. This device is designed to facilitate digital voice communication across various modes, including DMR, YSF, D-STAR, and P25.

2. Package Contents

3. Setup Guide

Your hotspot comes with most Pi-Star settings pre-configured on the TF card for ease of use. It is set to duplex mode, OLED type 3, and STM32 GPIO type. A temporary WiFi parameter (SSID: m100, password: abc12345) is set, and default TX/RX frequencies are 439.550.000 MHz and 433.550.000 MHz respectively, with zero offset.

3.1. Initial Connection

For the first-time setup, it is highly recommended to connect the hotspot directly to your router using a network cable. This bypasses the need for immediate WiFi configuration.

3.2. Antenna Installation

Carefully screw the two 433MHz UHF antennas onto the designated antenna ports on the hotspot. Ensure they are finger-tight to avoid damage.

3.3. Powering On

Connect the provided USB cable to the 5V USB port on the hotspot and to a mobile charger, computer, or laptop. The device will power on, and the OLED display will activate.

3.4. Accessing the Pi-Star Dashboard

Once powered on and connected to your network (via Ethernet or the temporary WiFi), open a web browser on a device connected to the same network and navigate to http://pi-star/. This will open the Pi-Star Digital Voice Dashboard.

3.5. Essential Configuration

Within the Pi-Star dashboard, you will need to set the following parameters:

  1. Your callsign
  2. Your DMR ID
  3. Your hotspot security (for BrandMeister network)

Additionally, ensure your walkie-talkie's TX frequency is set to 433.550.000 MHz and RX frequency to 439.550.000 MHz, which are opposite to the hotspot's default settings for proper duplex operation.

4. Operating Instructions

The Mokxihit Duplex DMR Hotspot supports various digital voice modes, including DMR, YSF, D-STAR, and P25. It operates in both duplex and single modes.

4.1. Supported Modes

The basic setup frequency is 433.550000 MHz for DMR. Ensure your radio is configured to communicate with the hotspot on the correct frequencies and modes.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your hotspot, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the device in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • The acrylic shell can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
  • Use a stable 5V power supply. While mobile chargers and laptop USB ports can be used, a dedicated 15W or higher adapter is recommended for consistent performance.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your hotspot, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
