Safety Information

• Sharp Edges: The metal panels may have sharp edges before the protective rubber strip is installed. Handle all panels with care and wear protective gloves during assembly.
• Rubber Strip Installation: Always install the protective rubber strip around the top edge of the raised planter box to prevent injury from sharp edges.
• Assembly: Ensure all bolts, nuts, and washers are securely tightened to maintain the structural integrity of the garden bed. Do not overtighten.

Assembly Instructions

The VEIKOU Raised Garden Bed features a modular design, allowing for 9 different configurations. This manual focuses on the 8x2x1.4 ft configuration. The general assembly steps apply to all configurations.

Step 1: Unpack and Identify Components

Carefully unpack all components. Lay them out and identify the different panel sizes. Refer to the diagram below for common configurations and the number of panels required for each.

Step 2: Assemble the Panels

1. Begin by connecting two panels using the provided bolts, nuts, and washers. Insert bolts from the outside, secure with washers and nuts on the inside.
2. Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage. Leave them slightly loose to allow for adjustments as you connect more panels.
3. Continue connecting panels according to your desired configuration. For the 8x2x1.4 ft model, you will typically form an oval shape.
4. Ensure the corrugated sides of the panels are facing outwards.

Step 3: Form the Desired Shape

Once all panels are loosely connected, gently shape the bed into its final form. For the 8x2x1.4 ft model, this will be an elongated oval. Adjust the panels until the shape is even and stable.

Step 4: Tighten All Fasteners

Once the desired shape is achieved, systematically tighten all bolts and nuts using the provided wrench. Ensure all connections are firm and secure, but avoid overtightening which could strip the threads or deform the metal.

Step 5: Install the Protective Rubber Strip

Carefully press the protective rubber strip along the entire top edge of the assembled garden bed. This strip covers any sharp edges and provides a finished look. Ensure it is seated firmly all around.

Operating and Usage

Placement

Position your raised garden bed in an area that receives adequate sunlight for the plants you intend to grow. Ensure the ground is level and stable. The bottomless design allows for placement directly on soil, grass, hard pavers, concrete, or a deck.

Filling with Soil

The 17-inch height is ideal for most plants, providing ample root depth. Fill the bed with a suitable soil mix for your chosen plants. Consider a 'hugelkultur' method by adding logs, branches, and organic matter at the bottom before topping with garden soil to improve drainage and nutrient retention.

Planting

Troubleshooting

• Bed appears wobbly after assembly: Ensure all bolts and nuts are fully tightened. If the ground is uneven, try to level the area where the bed is placed.
• Rubber strip comes off: Re-press the rubber strip firmly onto the edge. If it consistently comes off, ensure the edge is clean and dry before re-applying.
• Panels bending/bulging: This can occur if the bed is filled too quickly or with very heavy, dense soil without proper internal support. Fill the bed gradually and consider adding internal cross-bracing if significant bulging occurs, especially for very long beds.
• Rust spots: While made from rust-resistant galvanized steel, prolonged exposure to certain chemicals or highly acidic soil might affect the finish. Clean any spots promptly and ensure proper drainage.
