Setup and Programming

This section provides instructions for setting up and programming your Buck AT&T U-Verse remote control to work with your television and cable box.

1. Initial Setup and Battery Installation

Before using your remote, ensure the protective battery strip is removed and batteries are properly installed. The remote requires 2 AA batteries.

Ensure 2 AA batteries are inserted correctly.

Verify that the backlit buttons light up when you press any button. If they do not, check that the batteries are properly seated or need replacement.

2. Auto Search Programming Method

The "Auto Search" method allows the remote to automatically find the correct code for your TV.

1. Point Remote at TV: Point the remote directly at your TV. Keep it pointed at the TV throughout the entire process.
2. Enter Program Mode: Press and hold the OK and MENU keys simultaneously for 3 seconds. The POWER key will flash red twice to confirm you are in program mode.
3. Press On Demand: Press the On Demand key (located in the upper left corner of the remote).
4. Initiate Auto Search: Press and hold the Fast Forward (FF) key. The remote will test codes, and the POWER key will flash red once every 3 seconds. Continue holding until your TV turns off. This may take a few minutes.
5. Release Fast Forward: As soon as your TV turns off, immediately release the Fast Forward (FF) key.
6. Turn TV On: Press the POWER button to turn your TV back on.
7. Test Volume Controls: Use the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) keys to verify that the remote is controlling your TV's volume.

3. Manual Programming Method

If Auto Search is unsuccessful, you can manually program the remote using specific codes for your TV manufacturer. Refer to the provided programming codes list (Figure 4).

1. Enter Program Mode: Press and hold the OK and MENU keys simultaneously for 3 seconds. The POWER key will flash red twice.
2. Select Device Type: Press the TV button to select TV programming. The POWER key will flash once.
3. Enter Code: Find your TV manufacturer's code from the list (Figure 4). Enter the 5-digit code using the number buttons. The POWER key will flash once after each digit. If the code is valid, the POWER key will flash red twice. If invalid, it will flash one long red blink and exit programming mode.
4. Test Remote: Point the remote at your TV and press the POWER button. If the TV turns off, the remote is programmed. If not, try the next code for your manufacturer.

Operating Your Remote Control

The Buck AT&T U-Verse remote control is designed for ease of use with clearly defined buttons for various functions.

• POWER: Turns your TV and/or cable box on or off.
• On Demand / Interactive / My Multiview: Access specific U-Verse features.
• Playback Controls (REW, FF, PAUSE, STOP, PLAY, REC): Standard controls for media playback and recording.
• MENU: Accesses the main menu of your U-Verse system.
• OK / Arrow Buttons: Navigates menus and confirms selections.
• Back / Options / Info: Provides navigation, additional options, and information display.
• Exit to TV: Returns to live television.
• GUIDE: Displays the program guide.
• Recordings: Accesses your recorded programs.
• VOL (+/-): Adjusts the volume.

• Backlit Buttons Not Lighting Up: Check that the batteries are properly seated. If not, replace them with fresh AA alkaline batteries.
• Invalid Code During Programming: If an invalid code is entered, the POWER key will flash one long red blink, and the remote will exit programming mode. You will need to restart the programming process.
• Programming Interrupted: If your TV programming was interrupted or inactive for more than 10 seconds, your backlit button will shut off, and you’ll need to restart the process from the beginning.
• Remote Not Controlling TV: Try every code listed under your TV manufacturer in the programming codes table (Figure 4) to find the one that works for your TV.
• Backlighting Feature Off: If you’ve turned the backlighting feature off, you may not see the backlit buttons flash during the programming process. Refer to the "Optional Advanced Features" section in the full user guide (link below) to enable it.
