Introduction
The STEELMAN 61082 Wireless ChassisEAR is a diagnostic device designed to pinpoint the source of squeaks, rattles, and other troublesome noises in a vehicle's engine, axles, and chassis. This tool is ideal for diagnosing issues in components such as faulty fuel injectors, bearings, gears, suspensions, transmissions, differentials, and CV joints, as well as noises originating from under the hood. It functions as a high-powered wireless stethoscope, allowing technicians to listen to various parts of the vehicle during operation to identify noises that are difficult to replicate in a stationary repair environment.

Operating Instructions
- Placement of Transmitters:
Attach the 4 independent transmitters to different locations on the vehicle where you suspect the noise originates. Use the built-in clips, magnets, or the provided nylon hook-and-loop straps for secure placement.
- Channel Selection:
On the receiver unit, press the "CHANNEL SELECT" buttons (1-4) to switch between the audio feeds from each transmitter. Active channels will have illuminated buttons. You can mute a channel by pressing its button again.
- Monitoring Sound:
Listen to the sounds through the built-in speaker or the connected earphones. Adjust the ON/OFF Volume knob to a comfortable listening level. The signal strength indicator (LED lights) will show the strength of the active channel's signal.
- Vehicle Operation:
Operate the vehicle under conditions that typically produce the noise. This allows you to hear the noises as they occur, making diagnosis easier than in a stationary setting.
- Pinpointing Noise:
By switching between channels and observing the signal strength, you can pinpoint the exact location and cause of the noise. The 50-foot signal range allows for use on various vehicle sizes.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe down the receiver and transmitter units with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the receiver and transmitters when the signal strength indicator shows low power or when audio quality degrades. Always use fresh batteries of the specified type (AA for receiver, AAA for transmitters).
- Storage: Store the kit in its original blow-molded case in a cool, dry place when not in use to protect components from damage and dust.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables and microphone clamps for signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace any damaged components immediately to ensure optimal performance and safety.
