1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation and USB Receiver Access

The Logitech K585 keyboard is powered by two AAA batteries, which are typically pre-installed or included in the packaging. The USB receiver is conveniently stored within the keyboard's battery compartment for safekeeping.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover at the top of the keyboard.
  2. Slide the cover forward (towards the top edge of the keyboard) to open the compartment.
  3. If not already installed, insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Remove the USB receiver from its storage slot.
  5. Slide the cover back into place until it clicks securely.

3.2. Connecting Your Keyboard

The K585 keyboard offers two primary connection methods: Bluetooth and the included USB receiver.

3.2.1. Using the USB Receiver (Recommended for PCs/Laptops)

  1. Plug the USB receiver into an available USB-A port on your computer.
  2. Turn on the keyboard using the power switch located on the side.
  3. The keyboard should automatically connect to your computer. If not, press the Easy-Switch button (1 or 2) corresponding to the desired connection slot until the LED indicator blinks rapidly, then follow on-screen prompts if any.

3.2.2. Using Bluetooth (Recommended for Tablets/Smartphones/Mac)

  1. Turn on the keyboard using the power switch located on the side.
  2. Press and hold one of the Easy-Switch buttons (1 or 2) for 3 seconds until the LED indicator above the button starts blinking rapidly. This indicates the keyboard is in pairing mode.
  3. On your device (tablet, smartphone, or computer), go to Bluetooth settings and select "Logitech K585" from the list of available devices.
  4. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process. The LED indicator will turn solid for 5 seconds when connected.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Multi-Device Switching (Easy-Switch)

The Logitech K585 keyboard allows you to seamlessly switch between up to two connected devices using the Easy-Switch buttons (F11 and F12, labeled 1 and 2 respectively).

  1. Pair your first device to Easy-Switch button 1 (F11) and your second device to Easy-Switch button 2 (F12) as described in the Setup section.
  2. To switch between devices, simply press the corresponding Easy-Switch button (1 or 2). The keyboard will instantly connect to the selected device.

4.2. Built-in Phone Cradle

The keyboard features an integrated cradle at the top, designed to securely hold your smartphone or tablet while you type. This allows for convenient multitasking, enabling you to view your mobile device's screen alongside your main computer display.

4.3. Function (FN) Keys and Numeric Keypad

5.2. Battery Replacement
