3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the camera's casing by unlatching the side clips.
  2. Locate the battery compartment.
  3. Insert 8 AA batteries (not included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-) inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 SD Card Installation

  1. Ensure the camera is powered off.
  2. Locate the SD card slot, usually next to the battery compartment.
  3. Insert a Micro SD card (up to 32GB, Class 10 recommended) into the slot with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  4. To remove, gently push the card until it springs out.

3.3 Mounting the Camera

The camera can be mounted using the provided strap or the wall mounting bracket.

Using the Fasten Strap:

  1. Thread the strap through the slots on the back of the camera.
  2. Secure the camera to a tree or pole at the desired height and angle.
  3. Ensure the camera is stable and pointed towards the area you wish to monitor.

Using the Wall Mounting Bracket:

  1. Choose a suitable mounting surface.
  2. Use the provided screws to attach the bracket to the surface.
  3. Attach the camera to the bracket and adjust the angle as needed.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1 Powering On/Off

  • To power on, slide the mode switch from OFF to TEST or ON.
  • In TEST mode, you can access the menu and adjust settings.
  • In ON mode, the camera will begin monitoring based on your settings.
  • To power off, slide the mode switch to OFF.

4.2 Mode Selection and Menu Navigation

The camera features a 2.0-inch LCD screen for easy navigation and setting adjustments.

  • In TEST mode, press the MENU button to enter the settings menu.
  • Use the UP/DOWN arrows to navigate through options and LEFT/RIGHT arrows to change values.
  • Press OK to confirm selections.

4.3 Recording Settings

Adjust the following settings in the menu to customize your recording preferences:

  • Mode: Select Photo, Video, or Photo+Video.
  • Photo Resolution: Choose from 24MP, 20MP, 16MP, 12MP, or 8MP for still images.
  • Video Resolution: Set to 1080P for high-definition video recording.
  • PIR Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensors (Low, Medium, High) based on the environment.
  • Trigger Interval: Set the delay between consecutive triggers.
  • Time Lapse: Enable time lapse mode for capturing events over extended periods.
  • Timer Recording: Schedule specific times for the camera to be active.
  • Burst Images: Configure the number of photos taken per trigger in photo mode.

4.4 Viewing Files

You can view captured photos and videos directly on the camera's LCD screen or by connecting the camera to a computer.

On Camera Playback:

  • In TEST mode, press the PLAY button to enter playback mode.
  • Use the UP/DOWN arrows to browse through files.
  • Press OK to play videos or view photos.

Connecting to a Computer:

  1. Connect the camera to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. The camera will appear as a removable disk.
  3. Open the disk to access the DCIM folder, where your photos and videos are stored.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Camera

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body.
  • For the lens and PIR sensors, use a lens cleaning cloth and solution to avoid scratches.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

5.2 Battery and SD Card Management

  • Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears or when performance degrades.
  • Regularly format the SD card through the camera's menu to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up important files before formatting.

5.3 Water Resistance (IP66)

The RecorCam HC-808A is rated IP66 waterproof, protecting it from dust and powerful water jets. While it is designed for outdoor use in various weather conditions, avoid submerging the camera in water.

6. Troubleshooting
