6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the filter basket and discard used coffee grounds and paper filter. Wash the filter basket and carafe (including its lid) in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  4. The main unit is not dishwasher safe. The carafe and filter basket may be hand-washed only.

6.2 Descaling

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Descale regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 weeks).

  1. Fill the water tank with a descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio, or a commercial descaling agent following its instructions).
  2. Place the empty filter basket (without coffee or paper filter) and the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  3. Start a brewing cycle. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
  5. Discard the descaling solution from the carafe.
  6. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse the coffee maker thoroughly and remove any residual descaling solution taste.
