4. Setup

4.1 Initial Battery Connection

Before first use, the internal lithium battery may need to be manually connected. Use the provided small screwdriver to open the battery compartment and ensure the battery connector is securely plugged in. Close the compartment afterwards.

4.2 Charging the Device

The YF-6000GH features a built-in 400mAh lithium battery. To charge the device:

  1. Locate the Type-C charging port on the device.
  2. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the device and a suitable USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter).
  3. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. A full charge provides approximately 30 hours of operation.

4.3 Attaching the Lanyard

A screw hole is located at the bottom of the device. You can attach the included lanyard for secure handling and to prevent accidental drops.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the POWER button (usually marked with a circle and vertical line icon) to turn on the device.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the POWER button to turn off the device. The device will also automatically power off after 5 minutes of inactivity.

5.2 Display Overview and Button Functions

The device features a clear LCD backlight display and a sensitive smart multi-touch screen with several buttons:

  • MODE Button: Used to switch between different measurement modes (e.g., wind speed, air flow, temperature).
  • UNIT Button: Used to change measurement units (e.g., m/s, km/h, ℉/℃).
  • SET Button: Used for entering settings or confirming selections.
  • MAX/MIN Button: Toggles between current, maximum, and minimum readings.
  • Data Hold Button (often combined with SET or another icon): Freezes the current reading on the display.

5.3 Measuring Wind Speed and Temperature

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Ensure the device is in wind speed measurement mode (indicated on the display). If not, press the MODE button to cycle through modes.
  3. Point the 8-blade anemometer rotor towards the wind source.
  4. The wind speed and ambient temperature will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Press the UNIT button to switch between wind speed units (m/s, km/h, ft/min, knots, mph) or temperature units (℉/℃).
  6. Press the MAX/MIN button to view the maximum, minimum, or average wind speed recorded during the current session.

5.4 Measuring Air Flow (CFM)

To measure air flow, you first need to set the area of the duct or opening.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press the MODE button until the air flow (CFM) mode is selected.
  3. Press the SET button to enter the area setting. Use the touch screen or arrow buttons (if available) to input the area in m² or ft². Confirm the setting.
  4. Position the anemometer in the airflow path.
  5. The air flow reading will be displayed. Press the UNIT button to switch between m³/min, m³/s, or ft³/min.

Note: The device's theoretical range for setting volume area is 9999, but in practice, it may be limited to 0.001-929.9. Ensure your input is within this practical range for accurate CFM calculations.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided storage pouch for protection.
  • Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly, even if the device is not in use, to maintain battery health. Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
  • Rotor Inspection: Periodically check the 8-blade rotor for any obstructions or damage. Ensure it spins freely.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device does not power on:
    • Ensure the internal battery is properly connected (refer to Section 4.1).
    • Check if the battery is charged. Connect the device to a charger using the Type-C cable.
  • Inaccurate CFM readings:
    • Verify that the correct area (m² or ft²) has been entered in the settings.
    • Ensure the area input is within the practical range of 0.001-929.9.
    • Ensure the anemometer is positioned correctly in the airflow.
  • Rotor clattering at high speeds:
    • This may indicate a slight imbalance in the vane. While it might not significantly affect readings, ensure no debris is caught in the rotor.
  • Display is dim or unreadable:
    • Check battery level. Recharge if low.
    • Ensure the backlight is enabled (if applicable, refer to device specific button functions).
