Setup

1. Battery Installation and Charging

The Baofeng UV-82 comes with a 2800mAh Lithium Polymer battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.

1. Align the battery with the grooves on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks securely into place.
3. To charge, place the radio with the battery installed into the charging cradle.
4. Connect the charger's AC adapter to a power outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status.

2. Antenna Attachment

Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3. Earpiece/Microphone Connection

Connect the included earpiece or an external microphone to the dual-pin jack on the side of the radio. Ensure a firm connection for optimal audio.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the knob on the top of the radio clockwise to power on and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.

Frequency/Channel Selection

The UV-82 supports both Frequency Mode (VFO) and Channel Mode (MR). Use the VFO/MR button to switch between modes.

• Frequency Mode: Directly input frequencies using the keypad.
• Channel Mode: Navigate through stored channels using the UP/DOWN arrow keys.

Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button

The UV-82 features a unique dual PTT button. The top PTT button transmits on the A frequency, and the bottom PTT button transmits on the B frequency. Press and hold the desired PTT button to transmit, and release to receive.

Menu Navigation

Press the MENU button to access the radio's settings. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to scroll through options and ENTER to select. Press EXIT/ABR to return to the main screen or cancel an operation.

Programming

The Baofeng UV-82 can be programmed directly via the keypad or more conveniently using the included wireless programmer with a computer or smartphone.

Wireless Programming (Recommended)

The wireless programmer eliminates driver issues and allows for programming on the go, even outdoors, using your phone or computer.

1. Connect the wireless programmer to the radio's dual-pin jack.
2. Download and install the appropriate programming software (e.g., Odmaster Web) on your computer or the mobile app on your smartphone.
3. Follow the software/app instructions to connect to the radio and manage frequencies, channels, and other settings.
