This carburetor is designed as a replacement part for Murray M20300 mowers equipped with 140cc Briggs & Stratton 500 Series 21 engines.

Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of the carburetor:

1. Preparation: Ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Drain any fuel from the fuel tank.
2. Remove Air Filter Assembly: Carefully remove the air filter housing and air filter.
3. Disconnect Fuel Line: Pinch off the fuel line and disconnect it from the old carburetor. Be prepared for a small amount of fuel spillage.
4. Remove Old Carburetor: Disconnect any linkages (throttle, choke) and remove the mounting bolts that secure the old carburetor to the engine. Note the position of all linkages and gaskets for reassembly.
5. Clean Mounting Surface: Thoroughly clean the engine's mounting surface to ensure a good seal with the new gaskets.
6. Install New Carburetor: Place new gaskets in their correct positions. Mount the new carburetor, ensuring all linkages are properly connected. Secure with mounting bolts, tightening them evenly.
7. Reconnect Fuel Line: Reconnect the fuel line to the new carburetor and remove the pinch.
8. Reinstall Air Filter Assembly: Reattach the air filter and its housing.
9. Reconnect Spark Plug: Reconnect the spark plug wire.

Operating Instructions

After installation, the carburetor should be ready for operation. No specific adjustments are typically required for this replacement part as it is pre-set for standard engine operation.

1. Refill Fuel Tank: Add fresh, appropriate fuel to the mower's fuel tank.
2. Prime (if applicable): Some engines may have a primer bulb. Press it a few times until fuel is visible in the bulb.
3. Start Engine: Follow your mower's specific starting procedure (e.g., set choke, pull starter cord).
4. Warm-up: Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before engaging the blades or putting it under load.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your carburetor and engine:

• Fuel Quality: Always use fresh, clean fuel. Stale fuel can cause deposits that clog the carburetor.
• Fuel Filter: Regularly check and replace the fuel filter if your mower is equipped with one.
• Air Filter: Keep the air filter clean. A dirty air filter can restrict airflow and affect carburetor performance.
• Storage: Before long-term storage, run the engine until it runs out of fuel, or use a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation and carburetor clogging.
