6. Setup

6.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the walkie-talkie is powered off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  3. Slide the cover down or unclip it to open.
  4. Insert the 1200 mAh Lithium-ion battery pack, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

6.2 Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the USB charging cable to the charging port on the walkie-talkie.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The battery indicator on the LCD will show charging status.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charging cable.

6.3 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

  1. To power on the radio, rotate the top rotary knob clockwise until you hear a click. The LCD will light up.
  2. Continue rotating the knob clockwise to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume.
  3. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the LCD turns off.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Channel Selection

  1. With the radio powered on, press the MENU button once. The channel number on the LCD will flash.
  2. Use the Up or Down arrow buttons to select your desired channel (1-16).
  3. Press the MENU button again to confirm the selection and exit the channel setting mode.

7.2 Transmitting and Receiving (PTT)

  1. Ensure your radio is on the same channel as the other party.
  2. To transmit, press and hold the PTT button located on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  3. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and listen for a response.

7.3 VOX Function (Voice-Activated Transmission)

The VOX function allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button, by simply speaking into the microphone.

  1. Press the MENU button repeatedly until the VOX setting appears on the LCD.
  2. Use the Up or Down arrow buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive) or to turn VOX off.
  3. Press MENU to confirm and exit.

7.4 Flashlight Operation

To use the built-in flashlight:

  • Press the LAMP button once to turn the flashlight on.
  • Press the LAMP button again to turn the flashlight off.

7.5 Monitor Function

The Monitor function allows you to listen to weak signals or to check for activity on a channel without the squelch filtering them out.

  • Press and hold the MON button to temporarily disable the squelch.
  • Release the MON button to re-enable squelch.

8.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the radio surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure the charging port is free of dust and debris.

9. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check if the battery is installed correctly and fully charged. Ensure the rotary knob is turned to the ON position.
  • Cannot Transmit or Receive: Verify that both radios are on the same channel. Check battery level. Ensure the PTT button is pressed fully when transmitting.
  • Poor Audio Quality/Static: Move closer to the other radio. Check for obstructions. Ensure the antenna is securely attached. Adjust volume.
  • Short Range: Obstacles like buildings, hills, and dense foliage can significantly reduce range. Move to a more open area.
  • VOX Not Working: Check VOX sensitivity settings in the menu. Ensure the microphone is not obstructed.
