2. Safety Information

4. Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your solder practice board. It is recommended to solder components from lowest profile to highest profile.
4.1 Required Tools (Not Included)
- Soldering Iron
- Solder Wire
- Wire Cutters / Flush Cutters
- Desoldering Braid or Solder Sucker (optional, for corrections)
4.2 Assembly Steps
- Prepare the Circuit Board: Place one of the robot-shaped circuit boards on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Familiarize yourself with the component placement markings on the board.
- Solder Resistors: Locate the eight 100 Ohm resistors. Resistors do not have polarity, so they can be inserted in either direction. Bend the leads, insert them into the designated R1, R2, R3, R4 positions (four per board), and solder them from the underside of the board. Trim excess leads.
- Solder LEDs: Identify the four 3mm blue LEDs and four 5mm red LEDs. LEDs are polarity-sensitive. The longer lead is the anode (+) and the shorter lead is the cathode (-). On the circuit board, the square pad typically indicates the anode (+), and the round pad indicates the cathode (-). Match the longer lead of the LED to the square pad and the shorter lead to the round pad. Solder the LEDs into their respective positions (LED1, LED2, LED3, LED4). Trim excess leads.
- Solder Key Switches: Insert the four yellow key switches into their designated positions on the board. These switches typically do not have a specific orientation. Solder them securely and trim any excess leads.
- Solder Battery Holder: Place the CR2032 button battery holder onto the board. Ensure the correct orientation as indicated by the markings on the board (usually a '+' symbol for the positive terminal). Solder the holder firmly to the board.

5. Operating Instructions
Once assembly is complete, follow these steps to power on and test your Treedix Solder Practice Board.
- Insert Battery: Carefully insert one CR2032 button battery into the battery holder, ensuring the positive (+) side faces upwards (or as indicated by the holder's markings).
- Test Functionality: Press each of the yellow key switches. The corresponding LEDs should illuminate when pressed.

6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity of your practice board.
- Cleaning: If necessary, gently wipe the circuit board with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using liquids or harsh chemicals.
- Battery Replacement: When the LEDs dim or stop illuminating, replace the CR2032 battery with a new one. Ensure correct polarity.
- Storage: Store the assembled board in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
7. Troubleshooting
If your practice board does not function as expected, consider the following common issues:
- LEDs Not Lighting Up:
- Check LED polarity: Ensure the longer lead (+) is connected to the square pad and the shorter lead (-) to the round pad.
- Inspect solder joints: Look for cold joints (dull, lumpy appearance) or bridges (solder connecting two pads that shouldn't be connected). Re-solder as needed.
- Verify battery insertion: Ensure the CR2032 battery is inserted correctly with the positive side up.
- Check battery charge: Replace the battery with a new one to rule out a depleted battery.
- Intermittent Functionality:
- Examine all solder joints for cracks or poor connections.
- Ensure components are seated firmly on the board.
