2.1 What's in the Box

The Kittyhok Solar Home Security Camera System includes the following components:

• 1 x WiFi Security Video Recorder (NVR) with built-in 64GB SD Card
• 4 x Wire-Free Security Cameras
• 4 x Solar Panels with mounting brackets
• 1 x NVR Adapter
• 2 x Type-C Cables (for camera charging)
• 1 x HDMI Cable (1.5m)
• 1 x Ethernet Cable (1m)
• 1 x USB Mouse
• 4 x Screw Packages (for mounting)

2.2 NVR Introduction

The Network Video Recorder (NVR) is the central hub for your security system. It features:

• Power Indicator
• HDD Indicator
• Network Indicator
• 12V DC In port
• USB Port
• HDMI Video Output
• RJ-45 (Ethernet) Port
• Reset button
• Micro SD Card Slot (pre-installed 64GB SD Card)
• NVR Antennas

2.3 Camera Introduction

Each camera in your system is equipped with:

• Lens (2K 2560x1440p resolution)
• Microphone (for 2-way audio)
• Speaker (for 2-way audio)
• Indicator light
• Infrared & Spotlight (2-in-1 LEDs for color night vision)
• Thermal Sensor (PIR)
• Reset Key & Micro SD Card Slot
• Antenna
• Mounting Bracket

2.4 Connecting Your System

1. Connect the NVR to power using the included power adapter. Connect the USB mouse to the NVR's USB port.
2. Connect the NVR to a PC monitor or TV with an HDMI Cable. Note: A monitor is required for initial setup. After completing the initial setup, your NVR does not need to be connected to a TV or monitor to view or capture recordings.
3. Connect the NVR to your router with an Ethernet cable (if you plan to use it remotely). You can also connect the NVR to your router via Wi-Fi during the initial setup.
4. Follow the on-screen steps of the Startup Wizard to complete the initial setup.

2.5 Recharge The Camera

It's recommended to fully recharge the cameras before installation.

1. To charge your cameras, use 5V 1A or 2A DC phone chargers (not included) and the included Type-C cables.
2. The indicator light will blink green while charging. Check the on-screen camera status to determine if they are 100% charged.

NOTE:

• Please use only 5V DC power chargers to recharge the cameras. Chargers that do not meet the standard may damage the batteries.
• Please charge the battery at room temperature to avoid damage.

2.6 Access Your System via Smartphone

1. Download and install the Kittyhok App from the App Store or Google Play and install it on your smart devices.
2. Launch the App, register a user account, and log in.
3. In the App, tap the '+' button and then tap 'Scan to add', scan the QR code on the NVR and follow the on-screen instructions to add the NVR.

NOTE:

The QR code can also be found in NVR's System setting > Download the App.

2.7 Positioning Your NVR and Cameras

• Camera distance from NVR can reach up to 1300 ft. wirelessly in line of sight. Proper placement of the wireless NVR in your home will help ensure you achieve maximum coverage.
• Do NOT place near high voltage wires or other sources of electrical interference. Electrical interference will degrade the quality of the signal.
• Install the camera 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) above the ground. This height maximizes the detection range of the motion sensor.
• For dome cameras, they MUST be installed upside down for better waterproof performance and better motion sensor's efficiency.
• For better motion detection performance, please install the camera angularly.

2.8 Pairing a New Camera to the NVR

By default, each camera within your NVR kit comes pre-paired to the NVR. Additionally, your NVR has its own built-in Wi-Fi for secure, uninterrupted video transmission and recording. Pairing allows for the wireless transmission coming from the camera to be detected by the NVR. If you want to add more cameras to your system, the add-on cameras will similarly need to be paired to the NVR.

1. Hold the ON/OFF switch of the camera to turn it on. Make sure the camera is in Pairing Mode. If not, reset the camera to bring it to Pairing Mode.
2. With the NVR connected to a TV/Monitor, click the '+' icon at the bottom and follow the on-screen guide to pair your camera to the NVR.

This should be done locally at the NVR to avoid interference.

3.1 Live View and Playback

Access live feeds and recorded footage through the Kittyhok app on your smartphone or tablet, or directly via a monitor connected to the NVR.

3.2 Two-Way Audio

Each camera is equipped with a microphone and speaker, enabling two-way communication through the Kittyhok app. This allows you to listen to audio from the camera's location and speak through the camera's speaker.

3.3 Night Vision Modes

The cameras offer advanced night vision capabilities:

• Full Color Night Vision: The ultra-bright 600 Lumens spotlight activates upon motion detection, providing clear color video even in low-light conditions.
• Infrared Night Vision: Utilizes infrared LEDs for black and white night imaging up to 8 meters away.

4.1 Solar Power

The security system is designed for continuous operation with solar power. Just 3 hours of direct sunlight each day are typically sufficient to power the outdoor cameras. A built-in battery ensures continuous operation during nighttime or periods of low sunlight.

4.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life and prevent damage, ensure batteries are charged at room temperature. Avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperatures.

5.1 Why can I not see continuous live video on the monitor?

Because the cameras automatically enter standby mode to save power. As a thermal detection security system powered by solar and batteries, the system works when activities are detected and standby when there is no activity.

5.2 Does the system have to be connected to a monitor all the time?

No. Connecting the NVR to your TV or monitor enables you to enter the NVR's menu. It is necessary for the initial setup. After the setup is completed, you can view the NVR from your smartphone or tablet. If you are using a TV, you can switch the signal source to TV programs and switch back to this HDMI connection when needed.

5.3 Do the battery/solar cameras record 24/7?

Yes, but not by default. All solar/battery-powered security cameras record motion-triggered activities only. If you need 24/7 cameras, please go for Wi-Fi security camera systems with plug-in power. You can also plug this camera to power with a 5V DC phone charger, then switch to Continuous Recording Mode to make it work 24/7.

5.4 Why do my cameras run out of batteries fast?

1. Make sure to fully recharge your cameras before you mount them. It should take 4-6 hours to fully charge them.
2. When you are using solar panel as the power source, make sure the camera is in Event Record Mode. If you want the cameras to work in Continuous Record Mode, plug the cameras to wall outlets with 5V power chargers.
3. Make sure your solar panel is properly installed to obtain solar power.

5.5 Do I have to use the cameras with solar panels?

No, you can use the cameras without solar panels. The cameras' batteries last 45-120 days depending on how often they are activated. You will need to take the cameras down for recharge. With solar panels, they replenish power to batteries every day. It saves the troubles to take cameras down for recharge.
