Setup

1. Attaching to a Fishing Rod:

   Align the reel foot with the reel seat on your fishing rod. Tighten the reel seat nut securely until the reel is firmly attached and does not wobble. Ensure the reel is oriented correctly with the handle on the side you prefer (ambidextrous design allows for left or right-hand retrieve).
2. Spooling Fishing Line:

   Open the bail arm. Tie the fishing line to the spool using an arbor knot or a similar secure knot. Close the bail arm. Hold the line under tension with one hand while slowly turning the reel handle with the other. Ensure the line lays evenly and tightly on the spool. Do not overfill the spool; leave a small gap (approximately 1/8 inch) from the spool lip to prevent tangles and line management issues.

3. Adjusting the Handle:

   The Ceymar HD 4000 XA features a rigid machined aluminum screw-in handle. To change the handle side, unscrew the handle from one side of the reel body and screw it into the opposite side. Ensure it is tightened securely.

Operating Instructions

1. Casting:

   Hold the rod and reel comfortably. Open the bail arm with your non-dominant hand. Use your dominant hand to hold the line against the rod with your index finger. Swing the rod forward, releasing the line with your index finger at the appropriate moment to cast your lure or bait. As the lure hits the water, close the bail arm manually or by turning the handle.

2. Retrieving:

   Turn the reel handle to retrieve the line. Maintain a steady retrieve speed suitable for your lure or bait. The Even Flow Line Roller system helps prevent line twist during retrieval.
3. Adjusting the Drag:

   The drag system is located on the top of the spool. Turn the drag knob clockwise to increase drag tension and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Set the drag to approximately one-third of your line's breaking strength. This allows the line to pay out when a fish pulls hard, preventing line breakage while still applying pressure to the fish.

4. Using Anti-Reverse:

   The Quick-Set anti-reverse roller bearing prevents the handle from turning backward, providing instant hook sets. This feature is always engaged for optimal performance.

• After Each Use:
