Safety Precautions

  • Ensure the installation surface is stable and capable of supporting the lock securely.
  • Keep small parts and tools out of reach of children during installation.
  • Do not apply excessive force when operating the lock, as this may damage the internal mechanism.
  • Regularly check the lock for any signs of wear or damage and address them promptly.

Setup and Installation

The KAFENDA Mechanical Password Cabinet Lock offers two primary installation methods: screw installation for maximum security and a no-drilling option for convenience. Please ensure the lock is suitable for your specific door type (e.g., wooden sliding cabinet door, drawer, glass door, metal cabinet).

Important Considerations Before Installation:

  • This latch is designed for one-way imitation. If installing on double doors, one door must be fixed to allow the other to lock securely.
  • The lock can be installed with the keyboard latch in any direction.

Method 1: Screw Installation (Recommended for Stability)

  1. Positioning: Determine the optimal placement for the lock on your cabinet or drawer. Ensure both the lock body and the latch component align properly when the door is closed.
  2. Marking: Use a pencil to mark the screw hole positions for both the lock body and the latch component.
  3. Drilling Pilot Holes: Carefully drill pilot holes at the marked positions. Use a drill bit appropriate for your material (wood, metal, etc.) and slightly smaller than the screw diameter to prevent splitting.
  4. Attaching Components: Securely fasten the lock body and the latch component using the provided screws. Ensure they are tightly affixed to prevent loosening over time.

Method 2: No-Drilling Installation (Adhesive)

While screw installation offers maximum stability, a no-drilling option using strong adhesive is also possible for certain applications. This method is generally less secure than screw installation.

  1. Surface Preparation: Clean and dry the installation surface thoroughly to ensure optimal adhesion.
  2. Adhesive Application: Apply a strong, suitable adhesive (not included) to the back of both the lock body and the latch component.
  3. Positioning and Pressing: Carefully position the lock components and press them firmly onto the desired surface. Hold in place for the recommended time as per the adhesive instructions.
  4. Curing Time: Allow the adhesive to cure completely before using the lock.

Operating Instructions

Initial Password and Opening the Lock:

The initial password for your KAFENDA Mechanical Password Cabinet Lock is typically 0-0-0. To open the lock:

  1. Align the three digits to the correct combination (initially 0-0-0).
  2. Rotate the knob 180° smoothly to disengage the latch.

To close and lock, simply rotate the knob back 180° and scramble the digits.

Changing the Password:

You can easily set a new personalized 3-digit combination for your lock. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Step 1: Ensure the lock is set to the current correct password (initial password is 0-0-0).
  2. Step 2: Locate the small hole on the side of the lock body. Insert the adjusting password key (or a sharp object like a pen tip) into this hole until you feel it engage.
  3. Step 3: While holding the key/object in the hole, turn the cipher wheels to your desired new 3-digit combination. For example, if you want to set 7-8-9, rotate each wheel to its respective number.
  4. Step 4: Once the new combination is set, release the key/object from the hole. The new password is now saved. Test the new combination immediately to ensure it works correctly before scrambling the digits.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically, a small amount of graphite powder or a silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the internal mechanism (if accessible) to ensure smooth operation of the dial and latch. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the lock and its mounting screws for any signs of loosening, wear, or damage. Tighten screws as needed.
  • Environmental Conditions: While durable, avoid exposing the lock to extreme moisture or corrosive environments for prolonged periods.

Troubleshooting
