3. Setup

3.1. Installing Checkpoints

Strategically install the iButton checkpoints at designated patrol locations. These buttons do not require batteries or wiring, offering flexibility in placement.

3.2. Software Installation and Checkpoint Enrollment

The system software is Windows-based. Ensure you have a compatible Windows computer or laptop for setup and data management. If you only use Mac, this product is not compatible.

  1. Connect the data downloader to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. Insert a wand reader into the data downloader.
  3. Open the Guard Tour System software on your computer.
  4. Navigate to 'Basic Setup' and then 'Checkpoint'.
  5. Click 'Download Data' to retrieve the IDs of the iButton checkpoints.
  6. Select each checkpoint ID and click 'Modify' to assign a descriptive name (e.g., 'Gate Door', 'Elevator Door'). Save your changes.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Performing a Patrol

During a patrol, the guard uses the wand reader to touch each iButton checkpoint sequentially. When the wand reader successfully reads a checkpoint, it will typically flash a red light or emit a beep, indicating the record has been captured.

4.2. Downloading Patrol Records

After completing a patrol, connect the wand reader to the data downloader, and then connect the downloader to the computer. Use the software to download the patrol records. The software will list detailed records including patrol time, reader number, person, checkpoint, and event.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

Wipe the wand readers and data downloader with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the devices.

5.2. Battery Care

The wand reader is equipped with a long-life battery. Recharge the device using the provided USB cable when the low power alarm is triggered. Avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery for extended periods to prolong its lifespan.

5.3. Storage

Store the system components in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided carrying bag for safe transport and storage.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Software Not Working

Ensure the software is installed on a Windows operating system (32-bit or 64-bit). Verify that the USB cable is securely connected between the data downloader and the computer. If issues persist, refer to the video guide for software setup or contact customer support.

6.2. Wand Reader Not Recording

Check if the wand reader battery is charged. Ensure proper contact between the wand reader and the iButton checkpoint. A red light flash or beep indicates a successful read. If no indication, try cleaning the contact points on both the wand and the iButton.

6.3. Data Download Failure

Confirm the wand reader is correctly inserted into the data downloader and the downloader is connected to the computer. Restart the software and try downloading again. Ensure no other applications are interfering with the USB connection.
