Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials from the coffee maker and its accessories.
  2. Clean Components: Before first use, wash the carafe, carafe lid, and reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. Positioning: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation.
  4. Initial Rinse Cycle:
    • Fill the water reservoir with clean, cold water up to the "10 MAX" mark.
    • Place the empty reusable filter basket into its holder.
    • Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
    • Plug the coffee maker into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
    • Press the "On/Off" button to start a brewing cycle without coffee grounds. This will clean the internal components.
    • Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe.

  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter basket into the filter holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter basket. A general guideline is one level tablespoon of ground coffee per cup. Adjust to taste.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker. Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

  • Carafe and Lid: Wash the glass carafe and its lid after each use in warm, soapy water. They are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
  • Reusable Filter Basket: Remove the reusable filter basket after each use, discard coffee grounds, and rinse thoroughly under running water. It can also be washed with warm, soapy water.
  • Filter Holder: The filter holder can be removed for cleaning. Wash it with warm, soapy water and rinse.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker, including the warming plate and control panel, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.
  • Descaling: Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up over time, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
    • Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio).
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Run a full brewing cycle.
    • After the cycle, let the solution sit in the carafe for 15-20 minutes.
    • Discard the solution and rinse the carafe thoroughly.
    • Run 2-3 cycles with clean, cold water to remove any residual vinegar taste.
