Assembly and Setup
- Unfolding the Legs: Gently pull each of the three legs outwards from the central body until they click into one of the three available angle positions. Choose the angle that best suits your stability requirements.
- Attaching a Monopod: The VD-03 is primarily designed as a monopod base. Screw your monopod's 3/8" or 1/4" mounting screw (adapter may be needed for 1/4") into the threaded hole on the top plate of the VD-03. Ensure it is securely tightened.
- Attaching a Camera/Ball Head (Directly): If using as a mini tripod/ground pod, you can attach a camera or a separate ball head directly to the top plate using the appropriate screw thread.
- Using the Quick Release System:
- To attach a quick release plate (e.g., Arca-Swiss compatible), ensure the clamp lever is in the 'UNLOCK' position.
- Slide the quick release plate into the clamp.
- Push the clamp lever to the 'LOCK' position to secure the plate. For extra security, turn the safety lock knob clockwise.
- To remove, reverse the process: turn the safety lock counter-clockwise, then move the clamp lever to 'UNLOCK' and slide out the plate.
Operating Instructions
- Adjusting Leg Angles: To change the leg angle, press the angle button located at the hinge of each leg and reposition the leg to the desired angle. Ensure all three legs are set to the same angle for maximum stability.
- Using the Ball Head: The VD-03 features a ball head for precise positioning.
- To adjust the angle of your attached equipment, loosen the ball head lock knob (the silver knurled knob).
- Position your equipment as desired.
- Tighten the ball head lock knob firmly to secure the position.
- Stability: Always ensure the VD-03 is placed on a stable, level surface. For uneven terrain, adjust leg angles as needed to maintain balance. The rubber feet provide enhanced grip.
- Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum weight recommendation of 20 pounds to prevent damage to the unit or your equipment.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the VD-03 with a soft, dry cloth after each use. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the VD-03 in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure it is clean and dry before storage.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws and moving parts for tightness and smooth operation. Do not attempt to disassemble the ball head or quick release mechanism beyond normal user adjustments.
