Setup

Unboxing and Physical Assembly

Due to the size and weight of the Odyssey Ark, it is highly recommended to have two people for unboxing and assembly. Carefully remove the monitor from its packaging. Lay the monitor face down (while still in its protective styrofoam) to attach the stand. Once assembled, lift the monitor by its base and place it on a sturdy desk or surface.

Connecting the One Connect Box

The Odyssey Ark utilizes a One Connect Box, which serves as a central hub for all external connections. Connect the One Connect cable from the monitor to the One Connect Box. Ensure all cables are securely plugged in.

Initial Power-On and Firmware Update

After connecting all necessary cables, power on the monitor. It is recommended to connect an Ethernet cable to the One Connect Box for internet access. This allows the monitor to automatically check for and install the latest firmware updates, which are crucial for optimal performance and resolving potential issues.

Driver Installation and Display Settings

For PC users, download and install the latest Samsung monitor drivers from the official Samsung support website. Connect a USB-A to USB-B 2.0 cable (not provided) from your PC to the One Connect Box for full functionality. Ensure your graphics card supports HDMI 2.1 for 4K resolution at 165Hz and HDR. It is often recommended to connect your PC to HDMI 3 on the One Connect Box for best results. Adjust HDR settings and color calibration within your operating system for desired visual quality.

Operating the Monitor

Ark Dial Controller

The Odyssey Ark comes with an exclusive Ark Dial controller, which is solar-powered and provides quick access to various functions including Flex Move Screen, Multi View, Quick Settings, and Game Bar. A standard Samsung smart remote is also included.

Cockpit Mode

The monitor can be rotated to Cockpit Mode (vertical orientation) using its HAS (Height Adjustable Stand), tilt, and pivot functionality. To activate, lift the monitor to its full height and rotate. You will need to manually change the display settings in your operating system from landscape to portrait mode.

Multi View Feature

The Multi View feature allows you to utilize up to four screens simultaneously on the 55-inch display. This is ideal for multitasking, allowing you to game, stream, and browse content all on one screen. Note that in Cockpit Mode, Multi View can only show up to 3 screens. Game Mode, VRR, and Cloud Game are not supported while in Multi View mode. Refresh rates of up to 120Hz are supported for external inputs in Multi View mode.

Gaming Hub and Smart TV Features

The integrated Gaming Hub provides access to top streaming services and cloud gaming platforms. Built-in apps like YouTube and Samsung TV Plus offer a comprehensive Smart TV experience. Accessing Gaming Hub is free, though subscriptions may be required for content from game-stream providers.

Audio and Visual Enhancements

Maintenance

Cleaning the Monitor

Firmware Updates

Troubleshooting

• Multi-Input/Multi-Screen Limitations: The Odyssey Ark's Multi View feature has specific limitations, such as not supporting Game Mode, VRR, or Cloud Game, and a maximum of 3 screens in Cockpit Mode. It also does not support multiple HDMI inputs simultaneously in the same way some other monitors might. Ensure your usage aligns with the stated capabilities.
• 165Hz Not Achieved (PC): Verify that your graphics card and HDMI cable (HDMI 2.1 compliant) support 4K at 165Hz. Ensure the refresh rate is set correctly in your operating system's display settings. Check for any known driver bugs from your graphics card manufacturer that might limit the refresh rate (e.g., some Nvidia drivers previously limited 4K to 120Hz).
