4. Installation
Important: Professional installation by a licensed HVAC technician is required for this unit. Please refer to the detailed installation video below for visual guidance on each step.
Video: Official ARLIME installation guide for the split AC system. This video demonstrates the complete installation process for both indoor and outdoor units, including wiring and refrigerant connections.
4.1 Indoor Unit Installation Steps
- Fix Mounting Plate: Securely attach the mounting plate to the wall using expansion screw kits. Use a level to ensure it is horizontal. At least 5 screws should be used.
- Drill Wall Hole: Determine the pipe's path through the wall. Drill a hole inclined outward by 5-10 degrees, with a diameter of 60-80mm. Avoid wires, plumbing, and gas lines.
- Connection Cable: Pass the power cable from the back of the indoor unit and fix it to the terminal board. Secure the cable with a clamp.
- Knock-out Panel: Remove the knock-out panel with a knife according to the piping direction, and remove any burrs to prevent damage to the drain pipe.
- Refrigerant Piping Connection: Use both hands to turn the pipe in the desired direction to avoid deformation or rupture. Aim at the pipe center, tighten the taper nut with fingers, then tighten with two wrenches. Refer to the torque specifications provided in the video.
- Drain Hose Connection: Connect the drain hose to the water outlet pipe and fix it firmly with adhesive tape. The length should be more than 5cm to prevent water leakage.
- Wrap Piping: Wrap refrigerant piping, wires, and the drain pipe with wrapping tape.
- Mount Indoor Unit: Put the wrapped refrigerant piping through the wall hole. Push the lower part of the indoor unit until a 'click' sound is heard, ensuring it is firmly fixed to the wall.
- Pipe Protection: Install a pipe protecting ring and seal with putty to protect piping and wires. Ensure the drain hose is sloped down and its end is not submerged in water.
4.2 Outdoor Unit Installation Steps
- Select Location: Choose a firm and flat place for the outdoor unit to prevent vibration and noise. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit as specified in the safety section.
- Install Bracket: Use at least 6 expansion bolts to firmly fix the outdoor unit brackets to the wall.
- Fix Outdoor Unit: Carefully place the outdoor unit onto the brackets. Use 4 screws to fix the feet of the outdoor unit.
- Connect Refrigerant Piping: Remove the nuts from the stop valves. Aim at the pipe center of the stop valve, tighten the taper nut with fingers, then tighten with two wrenches. Refer to the torque specifications provided in the video.
- Refrigerant Adjustment: If the length of the connecting pipe is changed, extra refrigerant may need to be added or reduced. Consult the table below:
| Length of connection pipe | Added or reduced refrigerant | Amount of refrigerant for the unit |
|---|---|---|
| <3m | CC≤12000Btu reduce 20g/m CC≥18000Btu reduce 50g/m | ≤1Kg ≤2Kg |
| 3-5m | Not needed | |
| 5-15m | CC≤12000Btu add 20g/m CC≥18000Btu add 30g/m | ≤1Kg ≤2Kg |
- Fix Cables: Remove the electrical box cover. Fix cables to the terminal board according to the wiring diagram inside the box cover. Use clamps to fix cables. Replace the electrical box cover.
- Vacuumizing: Connect the stop valve, charging hose, manifold valve, and vacuum pump as shown in the diagram in the video. Turn on the handle to vacuumize. Maintain pressure for 3-5 minutes after vacuumizing, ensuring pressure springback is ≤0.05MPa.
- Open Valves: Open the 1/4 liquid valve and remove the charging hose. Open all liquid and gas valves. Screw all caps and tighten them.
5. Trial Operation & Safety Check
After installation, perform the following checks to ensure safe and proper operation.
5.1 Electrical Safety Check
- Use a multimeter to test for possible leaking positions on the outdoor unit shell during trial operation.
- If electricity leakage is detected, immediately turn off power and contact a qualified technician for further examination.
5.2 Water Drain Check
- Remove one filter from the indoor unit.
- Pour approximately 500ml of water along the evaporator for about 20 seconds.
- Check if water drains normally from the outdoor drain hose and if any water leakage is present around the indoor unit.
