Setup and Connections

Power Requirements

The pedal requires a 9 Volts (DC) power source. Ensure you use a compatible power adapter (not included) to prevent damage.

Input and Output

Output Modes

The CHOPPER-Z R-18 offers three distinct output modes for versatile connectivity, selectable via the Output Mode Control Knob:

  • PRE AMP: For connecting to the amp's preamp, typically the Guitar Input on the front panel.
  • POWER AMP: For connecting to the amp's power amp, typically connect to the Return Input of your amp's FX LOOP port.
  • CAB SIM: For connecting to full-range amps, such as a sound card, mixer, or PA system with full-range playback capability.

Controls and Operation

Control Knobs

  • VOL (Volume): Adjusts the overall output level of the pedal.
  • BASS: Controls the low-frequency response of your tone.
  • MID: Adjusts the mid-range frequency response, crucial for shaping the character of your distortion.
  • TREBLE: Controls the high-frequency response, adding clarity or brightness to your sound.
  • GAIN: Adjusts the amount of distortion and saturation, from subtle crunch to high-gain metal tones.

Foot Switches

  • FAT BOOST: Engages a boost circuit for a fuller, fatter tone, adding more body to your sound.
  • BYPASS: Toggles the effect on/off. When bypassed, the pedal allows the dry signal to pass through without modification.

LED Indicators

  • FAT BOOST Indicator: Illuminates when the Fat Boost is active.
  • Power Indicator: Illuminates when the pedal is powered on.

Ambience LED Lights

The R-series ambience LED lights provide visual feedback and can be configured via a switch on the rear of the pedal:

  • SYNC: All LEDs are controlled by the footswitch, turning on/off with the effect.
  • ALWAYS: LEDs on both sides are always on. The top LED is controlled by the footswitch.
  • OFF: All LEDs are off. The top LED is controlled by the footswitch.

Maintenance

General Care
