Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your FIOS CR1000 Wireless Gateway:
- Placement: Choose a central location in your home, away from obstructions and other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- Connect Power: Connect the power cord to the router's DC jack and plug it into an electrical outlet. Wait for the indicator lights to stabilize.
- Connect to ONT (Optical Network Terminal): Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the red WAN port on the back of the router and the other end to the Ethernet port on your FIOS Optical Network Terminal (ONT). If your service uses a coaxial connection, you may need to contact Verizon customer service to configure the modem for coaxial input instead of Ethernet.
- Connect Devices (Optional): For wired connections, connect your computers, gaming consoles, or other network devices to the yellow Ethernet LAN ports on the back of the router using Ethernet cables.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: On your wireless device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), search for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the network name (SSID) found on the label on the back of your router. Enter the Wi-Fi password (also found on the label) to connect.
- Access Router Settings: Open a web browser and navigate to the Network Settings URL provided on the router's label (e.g., mynetworksettings.com). Log in using the provided username and password to customize your network settings, such as changing the Wi-Fi name or password.

Operating Instructions
Once your FIOS CR1000 Wireless Gateway is set up, it will automatically provide internet access to connected devices. Here are some operational aspects:
- Wi-Fi Connectivity: The router broadcasts a tri-band Wi-Fi signal (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz for Wi-Fi 6E compatible devices). Devices will automatically connect to the optimal band for performance.
- Wired Connections: Use the yellow Ethernet LAN ports for stable, high-speed wired connections to devices like desktop computers, smart TVs, or gaming consoles.
- Guest Wi-Fi: Enable the Guest Wi-Fi network from the router's settings page to provide internet access to visitors without sharing your main network password.
- WPS Button: Press the WPS button on the back of the router to quickly connect WPS-compatible devices without manually entering the password.
- Router Lights: Monitor the indicator lights on the front of the router to check its status (e.g., power, internet connection, Wi-Fi activity). Refer to the full user manual for a detailed explanation of each light's meaning.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your router:
- Restart Periodically: Restarting your router every few weeks can resolve minor connectivity issues and improve performance. Unplug the power cord, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Keep Ventilated: Ensure the router is placed in an area with good airflow to prevent overheating. Do not cover ventilation holes.
- Firmware Updates: The router typically receives automatic firmware updates from FIOS. Ensure your router is connected to the internet to receive these updates, which provide security enhancements and performance improvements.
- Clean Gently: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the router. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your FIOS CR1000 Wireless Gateway, try these common troubleshooting steps:
- No Internet Connection:
- Check all cable connections (power, Ethernet to ONT).
- Restart the router and the ONT.
- Verify the internet indicator light on the router is solid.
- Slow Wi-Fi Speeds:
- Ensure the router is centrally located and not obstructed.
- Reduce the number of active devices on the network.
- Consider using wired connections for high-bandwidth activities.
- Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
- Double-check the Wi-Fi password.
- Ensure your device is within range of the Wi-Fi signal.
- Restart your device and the router.
- Forgotten Wi-Fi Password:
- The default Wi-Fi name and password are on the label on the back of the router.
- If changed, you can log into the router's settings page (using the Network Settings URL and admin password) to retrieve or reset it.
- As a last resort, perform a factory reset (see full manual for instructions), but this will erase all custom settings.
