5. Setup
Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment on the handle of the thermometer.
- Use the provided screwdriver to open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the 9V (6F22) battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Taking a Measurement:
- Point the thermometer at the target surface.
- Press and hold the trigger to activate the laser and begin measurement. The dual lasers will indicate the measurement area.
- The temperature reading will appear on the LCD display within 0.25 seconds.
- Release the trigger to hold the reading on the display.
6.2 Temperature Unit Selection (°C/°F):
Press the °C/°F button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
6.3 Mode Selection (MIN/MAX/AVG/DIF):
Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the following measurement modes:
- MIN: Displays the minimum temperature recorded during a continuous measurement.
- MAX: Displays the maximum temperature recorded during a continuous measurement.
- AVG: Displays the average temperature recorded during a continuous measurement.
- DIF: Displays the difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded.
6.4 High/Low Temperature Alarms:
The device allows you to set high and low temperature alarms. If the measured temperature exceeds the high alarm setting or falls below the low alarm setting, an audible and/or visual alert will activate.
- In measurement mode, press the MODE button until the alarm setting icon appears.
- Use the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the high or low alarm threshold.
- Press MODE again to confirm and exit.

6.5 Flashlight Function:
Press the flashlight button (often integrated with the C/F button or a dedicated button) to turn the integrated flashlight ON or OFF. This is useful for illuminating target areas in low-light conditions.
6.6 Emissivity Adjustment:
The GR-150 features adjustable emissivity to ensure accurate readings on various surfaces. Different materials emit infrared energy differently. Refer to a standard emissivity table for common materials and adjust the emissivity setting on your device accordingly. This setting is typically accessed via the MODE button or a dedicated button.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning:
- Lens: Use a soft, clean cloth or cotton swab with a small amount of medical alcohol to clean the lens. Allow it to dry completely.
- Housing: Clean the device housing with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
7.2 Battery Replacement:
Replace the 9V battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 5.
7.3 Storage:
Store the thermometer in its carrying case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Check battery installation and ensure the battery has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Verify the emissivity setting for the target material. Ensure the lens is clean and there are no obstructions between the thermometer and the target. Maintain the recommended distance-to-spot ratio.
- "Lo" or "Hi" displayed: This indicates the measured temperature is outside the device's operational range (-58°F to 2732°F).
