5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning
After each use, especially after cutting food or corrosive materials, clean the blade and handle thoroughly. Use the provided cleaning cloth or a soft, damp cloth. Ensure all debris is removed. Dry the knife completely before storing.
5.2. Sharpening
The 154CM steel blade is known for its excellent edge retention and is relatively easy to sharpen when needed. Use appropriate sharpening tools and techniques to maintain the blade's sharpness. Regular light sharpening is recommended over infrequent heavy sharpening.
5.3. Product Care Instructions
The Kizer Drop Bear knife is designed for durability, but proper care is essential. Hand wash only. Do not put in a dishwasher, as harsh detergents and high temperatures can damage the materials.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your Kizer Drop Bear knife, please consider the following:
- Blade not deploying smoothly: Check for debris in the pivot area. Clean and apply a small amount of knife lubricant if necessary. Ensure the pivot screw is not overtightened.
- Blade play: Gently tighten the pivot screw. Do not overtighten, as this can affect smooth deployment.
- Corrosion: If minor rust spots appear, they can often be removed with a fine abrasive and oil. Prevent future corrosion by keeping the knife clean and dry.
