Setup

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Use a coin or a flat tool to gently turn the battery cover counter-clockwise to open.
  3. Insert one CR2032 3.0V coin cell battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Replace the battery cover and turn clockwise to secure.

Attaching the Lanyard

The anemometer comes with a lanyard for convenient carrying. Attach the lanyard to the designated loop on the device. The lanyard can be easily disconnected if not needed.

Operation

Turning On/Off

  • To Turn On: Press and hold the "MODE" button for 2 seconds. The LCD will display air velocity, temperature, and battery icon. The backlight will activate for 12 seconds.
  • To Turn Off: Press the "MODE" and "SET" buttons simultaneously. The unit will also shut off automatically after 14 minutes of no operation.

Setting Air Velocity Units

  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Press and hold the "MODE" button for more than 3 seconds until the air velocity unit starts to blink.
  3. Press the "SET" button to cycle through the desired air velocity units (m/s, Km/hr, ft/min, Knots, mph).
  4. To confirm the selected unit, press the "MODE" button.

Setting Temperature Units (°C/°F)

The temperature unit switch key (C/F) is concealed in the rear battery cabinet. Use a small push-pin or similar tool to press this key for C/F conversion.

Measuring Wind Speed (Impeller)

When the wind vane (impeller) turns, the LCD will instantly display wind speed, temperature, and Beaufort scale. When temperature below 0 °C, "WIND CHILL" will be shown on the LCD.

  • Current Air Velocity (CU): Displays the real-time wind speed.
  • Maximum Air Velocity (MAX): To view the maximum recorded wind speed, press the "MODE" button repeatedly until "MAX" appears on the display.
  • Average Air Velocity (AVG): To view the average wind speed, press the "MODE" button repeatedly until "AVG" appears on the display.
  • To reset MAX/AVG values, enter the unit setting mode (hold MODE for >3s), then press SET until CU/MAX/AVG blinks, then press MODE to confirm.

Measuring Wind Direction

To determine the wind direction, hold the anemometer and slowly move it back and forth. The direction that yields the highest wind speed reading is the direction from which the wind is blowing.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

When the low battery symbol appears on the LCD, replace the CR2032 battery as described in the "Battery Installation" section. Note that changing the battery will reset custom settings to factory defaults.

Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the impeller area is free from dust and debris for accurate readings.

Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Unit Not Turning On: Check battery installation and ensure the battery is not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the impeller is clean and unobstructed. Verify that the unit is held correctly into the wind for outdoor measurements.
  • Backlight Not Working: The backlight is activated for 12 seconds by pressing any key. If it does not activate, check battery level.
