2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for your child's safety. Always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual and the car seat's full instruction manual for detailed installation steps. The Magellan LiftFit can be installed using your vehicle's seat belt system.
Initial Adjustments:
- Headrest and Harness Adjustment: The QuikFit technology allows for one-hand adjustment of the integrated headrest and harness. Locate the adjustment lever, typically at the top of the seat back, and lift to slide the headrest to one of the 14 available positions. Ensure the harness straps are at or just below the child's shoulders for rear-facing, and at or just above for forward-facing.
- Recline Angle Adjustment: The car seat features 7 recline positions. Use the recline adjustment handle, usually located at the front or side base of the seat, to select the appropriate angle for your child's age and the installation mode (rear-facing or forward-facing). Indicators on the side of the seat will guide you to the correct recline zone.
- Comfort Adjust Torso Protection: This unique feature allows you to raise the center lumbar column to adapt to your child's growing torso. Adjust this to one of the 3 positions for optimal comfort and fit as your child grows.
- Infant Pillow System: For newborns and smaller infants, ensure the easily removable infant pillow system is properly installed to provide additional support and a snug fit. Remove these inserts as your child grows and no longer requires them.

3. Operating the Car Seat
Once installed, operating the Magellan LiftFit involves securing your child correctly and making necessary adjustments for their comfort and safety.
Securing Your Child:
- Harness System: Place your child in the seat. Bring the harness straps over their shoulders and between their legs. Buckle the crotch buckle into the main buckle. Connect the chest clip at armpit level. Ensure the harness is snug, with no slack, and passes the "pinch test" (you cannot pinch any excess webbing at the child's shoulder).
- Out-of-the-Way Harness Holders: The car seat features spring-assist harness holders to keep the straps out of the way when placing your child in or taking them out of the seat. Utilize these holders to simplify the process.
- Booster Mode: When using the seat in belt-positioning booster mode, ensure the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt are properly routed through the designated guides on the car seat and fit snugly across your child's hips and collarbone.

Side Impact Protection:
The Magellan LiftFit incorporates Patented Air Protect® Side Impact technology, designed to provide enhanced protection in the event of a side collision. Ensure the headrest is properly adjusted to position the side impact protection correctly around your child's head.

4. Care and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and hygiene of your Maxi-Cosi Magellan LiftFit car seat.
Cleaning Instructions:
- Fabrics: The PureCosi fabrics are designed for easy cleaning. The car seat cover is fully removable. Refer to pages 64-68 of the detailed product manual for specific instructions on how to remove and re-install the cover. Most fabrics can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Air dry only; do not use bleach or iron.
- Harness and Buckle: Wipe the harness straps with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or submerge the harness straps, as this can weaken the webbing. Clean the buckle by rinsing it under warm water. Do not use soaps or detergents on the buckle.
- Plastic and Metal Parts: Wipe plastic and metal parts with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Cup Holders: The integrated cup holders are dishwasher-safe for convenient cleaning.
Storage:
When not in use, store the car seat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not place heavy objects on the car seat during storage.
