- Unscrew the upper chamber from the lower boiler.
- Remove the filter basket.
- Wash all three parts (upper chamber, filter basket, lower boiler) with warm water. Do not use soap or detergents.
- Dry all components completely.
- Assemble the moka pot and brew 2-3 times with inexpensive coffee grounds, discarding the resulting coffee. This process seasons the pot and ensures optimal flavor for future brews.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to brew delicious espresso with your Magefesa Colombia Noir Moka Pot.
- Fill the Boiler: Unscrew the upper chamber from the lower boiler. Fill the lower boiler with cold water up to the level of the safety valve. Do not exceed this line.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Insert the filter basket into the lower boiler. Fill the filter basket with medium-fine ground coffee. Do not tamp or press the coffee down. Level the grounds gently.
- Assemble the Pot: Carefully screw the upper chamber onto the lower boiler, ensuring a tight seal.
- Place on Stovetop: Place the moka pot on your gas or electric stovetop over medium heat. For gas stoves, ensure the flame does not extend beyond the base of the pot to prevent damage to the handle.
- Brew Coffee: As the water heats, pressure will build, forcing water through the coffee grounds and into the upper chamber. You will hear a gurgling sound as the coffee begins to brew.
- Remove from Heat: Once the upper chamber is full of coffee and you hear a distinct gurgling sound, remove the moka pot from the heat immediately. This prevents the coffee from overheating and developing a bitter taste.
- Serve: Pour and enjoy your freshly brewed espresso.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Proper cleaning ensures the longevity of your moka pot and the quality of your coffee.
- After Each Use: Allow the moka pot to cool completely. Disassemble all parts. Rinse each part thoroughly with clean, warm water. Do not use soap, detergents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the aluminum and affect the coffee flavor.
- Drying: Dry all components completely before reassembling or storing to prevent oxidation and mineral buildup.
- Dishwasher Use: DO NOT wash in a dishwasher. Dishwashers can cause irreversible damage to the aluminum and alter the taste of your coffee.
- Gasket and Filter Plate: Periodically check the rubber gasket and filter plate located in the upper chamber. If they appear worn or cracked, replace them to maintain a proper seal and brewing performance.
