Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your TOSHIBA GF-22H-SL No Frost Deep Freezer. Please read these instructions thoroughly before using the appliance and retain them for future reference.
Safety Information
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury. This appliance is designed for household use only.
- Ensure the power supply voltage matches the rating label on the appliance.
- Do not use extension cords or ungrounded adapters.
- Keep ventilation openings clear of obstructions.
- Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.
- Unplug the appliance before cleaning or performing maintenance.
- Do not touch frozen items with wet hands to avoid frostbite.
Setup
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove all packaging materials, including foam and adhesive tape. Inspect the freezer for any damage incurred during transit. Report any damage to your retailer immediately.
2. Placement
Place the freezer on a firm, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources (e.g., stoves, radiators), and moisture. Ensure adequate air circulation around the appliance. Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 cm (4 inches) from the back and sides for proper ventilation.
The dimensions of the freezer are approximately 60 cm (width) x 65 cm (depth) x 137 cm (height).
3. Leveling
Adjust the leveling feet at the bottom of the freezer to ensure it is stable and level. This prevents vibrations and ensures proper door sealing.
4. Power Connection
Plug the freezer into an exclusive, grounded electrical outlet. Allow the freezer to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours before plugging it in to allow refrigerants to settle.

Operating Instructions
1. Temperature Control
The freezer features a rotary temperature control dial located inside the top compartment (refer to Figure 1). Turn the dial to adjust the freezing temperature. Higher numbers typically indicate colder settings. For initial use, set the dial to a medium setting and adjust as needed based on food load and ambient temperature.
2. Quick Freeze Function
This freezer is equipped with a Quick Freeze feature. To activate, set the temperature control to the coldest setting. This rapidly lowers the internal temperature, ideal for freezing large quantities of fresh food quickly to preserve quality. Return the dial to the normal operating setting after 24 hours or once food is thoroughly frozen.
3. Food Storage
Utilize the five transparent drawers and one shelf for organized storage of various food items. Ensure food is properly sealed in freezer-safe containers or bags to prevent freezer burn and odor transfer.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain hygiene and efficiency. Unplug the freezer before cleaning.
- Interior: Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Remove drawers and shelves for separate cleaning.
- Exterior: Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Door Seal: Clean the door gasket regularly to ensure a tight seal.
2. Defrosting (No Frost System)
This TOSHIBA deep freezer features a No Frost system, which automatically prevents ice buildup. Manual defrosting is generally not required. However, if excessive frost accumulates due to frequent door openings or high humidity, a light manual defrost may be performed by unplugging the unit and wiping away frost with a soft cloth.
3. Power Outage
In case of a power outage, keep the freezer door closed to maintain the internal temperature for as long as possible. Food should remain frozen for several hours depending on the ambient temperature and how full the freezer is.
Troubleshooting
Before contacting service, check the following common issues:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Freezer does not operate | No power supply; power cord unplugged; circuit breaker tripped. | Check power connection; reset circuit breaker. |
| Temperature is not cold enough | Temperature control set too warm; door opened too frequently; large amount of warm food added; poor ventilation. | Adjust temperature setting; minimize door openings; allow food to cool before placing in freezer; ensure proper clearance around the unit. |
| Excessive noise | Freezer is not level; objects vibrating against the unit; normal operating sounds. | Adjust leveling feet; ensure no objects are touching the freezer; some sounds (e.g., refrigerant flow, compressor) are normal. |
| Door does not close properly | Door gasket dirty or damaged; freezer not level; food packages obstructing closure. | Clean or replace gasket; level the freezer; rearrange food items. |
