2. Safety Information
Please observe the following safety guidelines to ensure safe use of your blind:
- Keep packaging materials away from children to prevent suffocation hazards.
- Ensure the blind is securely attached to the window frame to prevent it from falling.
- This product is designed for indoor use only.
- Do not attempt to modify the blind. Any modifications may void the warranty and pose safety risks.
- Regularly inspect the blind for any signs of wear or damage. Discontinue use if damage is found.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- 1 x IKEA SCHOTTIS Block-Out Pleated Blind (74.8"L x 39.37"W)
- Adhesive strips (pre-attached or included for mounting)
- Clips for holding the blind open
- Hook-and-loop fastener for securing the blind when fully closed
4. Setup and Installation
The IKEA SCHOTTIS blind is designed for easy, no-drilling installation. It attaches directly to your window frame using adhesive strips. For optimal adhesion, ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
- Prepare the Surface: Clean the inside of your window frame where the blind will be mounted. Use a mild cleaner and ensure the surface is completely dry and free of dust or grease. The pleated blind will stick best on smooth surfaces.
- Position the Blind: Unroll the blind slightly to identify the top edge with the adhesive strips. Carefully position the blind against the top of your window frame, ensuring it is centered and level.
- Attach the Blind: Remove the protective backing from the adhesive strips. Press the blind firmly against the window frame for at least 30 seconds to ensure a strong bond.
- Secure the Bottom Fastener (Optional): If you wish to secure the blind completely when closed, attach the included hook-and-loop fastener to the bottom of your window frame, aligning it with the bottom edge of the blind when fully extended.

5. Operation
The SCHOTTIS blind operates manually and can be adjusted to various positions to control light and privacy.
- To Lower the Blind: Gently pull the bottom edge of the blind downwards to extend it. The pleats will unfold as the blind lowers.
- To Raise the Blind: Gently push the bottom edge of the blind upwards. The pleats will fold as the blind retracts.
- To Hold the Blind Open: Use the included clips to secure the blind at your desired height. Gather the pleated fabric and insert it into the clips, then attach the clips to the blind at the desired position.
- To Fully Close and Secure: When the blind is fully lowered, align the bottom edge with the hook-and-loop fastener previously installed on your window frame. Press firmly to secure the blind in the fully closed position, ensuring maximum light block-out.

6. Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your SCHOTTIS blind.
- Cleaning: The blind is designed for spot cleaning only. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap to gently clean any soiled areas. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry clean.
- Dusting: Regularly dust the blind with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment on a low setting to prevent dust accumulation in the pleats.
- Adhesive Check: Periodically check the adhesive strips for secure attachment. If the blind begins to loosen, re-press firmly against the window frame.
7. Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Blind does not stick to the window frame. | Surface is not clean, dry, or smooth; insufficient pressure during installation. | Clean the surface thoroughly. Ensure it is completely dry. Apply firm, sustained pressure during installation. The blind sticks best on smooth surfaces. |
| Blind does not stay at desired height. | Clips are not properly attached or are damaged. | Ensure the clips are securely holding the pleated fabric. If clips are damaged, contact IKEA for replacements. |
| Blind does not fully block light. | Blind is not fully extended or not secured with the hook-and-loop fastener. | Ensure the blind is fully lowered and the hook-and-loop fastener is engaged at the bottom of the window frame. |
