Setup
Registration
Before initial use, it is mandatory to register your ACR ResQLink 410 RLS with the appropriate national authority (e.g., NOAA in the USA). Registration ensures that search and rescue services have access to your emergency contact information and vessel details, which is crucial for a timely and effective rescue. Failure to register may delay rescue efforts. Follow the instructions provided in the packaging or visit the manufacturer's website for detailed registration steps.
Battery Installation/Check
The ResQLink 410 RLS comes with two Lithium Metal batteries pre-installed. These batteries have a 5-year life. Regularly check the battery expiration date printed on the device. If the battery is nearing its expiration or has been activated, it must be replaced by an authorized service center to ensure proper functionality.
Initial Activation Test
It is recommended to perform a self-test upon receiving your beacon and periodically thereafter to ensure it is functioning correctly. Refer to the 'Self-Test Function' in the Operating Instructions section for detailed steps.
Activation Guide Video
This video demonstrates the activation process for ACR ResQlink 400 and 425 series PLBs, which is similar to the 410 RLS model.
Operating Instructions
Emergency Activation
- Deploy Antenna: Slide the antenna cover to expose and fully extend the antenna. Ensure it is positioned at a 90-degree angle to the device, pointing towards the sky.
- Activate Beacon: Press and hold the 'ON' button for approximately 2 seconds until the red LED light begins to flash and the strobe light activates. The device will immediately begin to acquire GPS coordinates.
- Confirm RLS: Once GPS is acquired, the red LED light will turn green, indicating that your distress message has been sent and Return Link Service (RLS) confirmation is being processed.
- Maintain Position: Keep the beacon in an open area with a clear view of the sky until rescue personnel arrive. Do not turn it off until you have been rescued.

Deactivation
To deactivate the beacon, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The device will power off. Once deactivated, retract the antenna and secure the cover.
Self-Test Function
The self-test function allows you to verify the beacon's operational status without sending a distress signal. To perform a self-test, ensure the antenna is deployed, then press the 'TEST' button (often indicated by a 'T' or checkmark) for 1 second. The display will show 'TEST' and then 'GPS' as it attempts to acquire a signal. A successful test will typically show 'PASS' or a green light, indicating the beacon is ready for use.
Maintenance
To ensure your ResQLink 410 RLS remains in optimal working condition, perform regular checks:
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the beacon for any signs of damage, cracks, or corrosion. Ensure the antenna is intact and the seals are clean.
- Battery Check: Verify the battery expiration date printed on the device. Replace the unit or battery as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Cleaning: Clean the device with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: Store the beacon in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
No GPS Signal Acquisition
Ensure the beacon has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Obstructions like dense foliage, buildings, or being inside a vessel can prevent GPS signal acquisition. Move to an open area if possible.
Beacon Not Activating
Verify that the antenna is fully deployed and the activation button is pressed and held for the specified duration (typically 2 seconds for activation). Check the battery status if the device fails to respond.
False Alarms
If the beacon is accidentally activated, immediately deactivate it by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds. Contact your national search and rescue authority (e.g., NOAA) to report the false alarm and prevent unnecessary deployment of resources.
