DC HOUSE Upgrade Water Distiller User Manual

Model: distiller

1. Introduction and Overview

The DC HOUSE Upgrade Water Distiller is designed to produce pure distilled water for various household needs, including drinking, coffee brewing, beauty applications, and dental clinics. This 750W, 4-liter (1-gallon) capacity machine efficiently removes dissolved VOCs and impurities, providing clean water at a rate of approximately 0.25 gallons per hour (up to 6 gallons per day).

Constructed with food-grade 304 stainless steel for all liquid-contacting parts, the distiller ensures durability and resistance to leakage. It features an automatic shut-off mechanism at 320°F to prevent overheating and an additional on/off switch for manual control.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Always place the distiller on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit during operation to prevent heat buildup.
  • The distiller is equipped with an automatic shut-off feature that activates when the temperature reaches 320°F (160°C). Do not bypass or tamper with this safety mechanism.
  • Power Cord Safety: Regularly inspect the power cord and the connection point to the distiller for any signs of wear, damage, or overheating (e.g., melting plastic, discoloration). If any issues are observed, discontinue use immediately and contact customer service. Never leave the distiller operating unattended, especially if there are concerns about the power cord.
  • After each distillation cycle, allow the machine to cool down for at least 20 minutes before handling or starting a new cycle.
  • Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

5. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the distiller unit on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant countertop or table. Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit for proper air circulation.
  3. Assemble Collection Container: If not already assembled, attach the handle to the glass collection container.
  4. Install Charcoal Filter: Open the lid of the water outlet on the collection container and insert the carbon filter into the designated slot.
  5. Align Water Outlet: Position the glass collection container so that the distiller's metal water outlet tube is properly aligned with the opening of the collection container. Ensure the metal tube is aligned with the scale inside the top cover of the collection container.
  6. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the distiller unit and then into a standard 110V electrical outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Fill Water: Open the lid of the distiller and fill the stainless steel boiling chamber with tap water. Do not exceed the maximum fill line (approximately 4 liters or 1.06 gallons). For best taste and to prevent residue buildup, consider using pre-filtered water.
  2. Close Lid: Securely close the distiller lid.
  3. Start Distillation: Press the ON/OFF switch to begin the distillation process. The distiller will start heating the water.
  4. Monitor Process: The distiller will heat the water to boiling, producing steam that rises into the cooling coil. The steam condenses into pure distilled water, which then drips into the glass collection container.
  5. Automatic Shut-off: The unit will automatically shut off when the water level in the boiling chamber is low or when the internal temperature reaches 320°F (160°C).
  6. Manual Shut-off: You can manually stop the distillation process at any time by pressing the ON/OFF switch. It is recommended to turn off the unit before all water has evaporated, leaving a small amount (e.g., half an inch) of water in the bottom to prevent minerals from baking onto the surface and potentially affecting the taste of the distilled water.
  7. Cool Down: After the cycle is complete or manually stopped, allow the distiller to cool down for at least 20 minutes before emptying the residue or starting a new cycle.
  8. Collect Distilled Water: Once cooled, carefully remove the glass collection container and use the pure distilled water as needed.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of your distiller. It is recommended to clean the boiling chamber every 2-3 cycles, or more frequently depending on your water quality.

  1. Empty Residue: After the unit has cooled down, carefully pour out any remaining water and mineral residue from the boiling chamber.
  2. Descaling: For stubborn mineral buildup, use the provided fruit cleaner or white vinegar. Pour a small amount (e.g., 1 cup of white vinegar) into the boiling chamber, ensuring it covers the mineral deposits. Let it soak for 20-30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup. You may gently scrub with a non-abrasive brush or sponge if necessary.
  3. Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the boiling chamber with clean water multiple times to remove all cleaning solution and loosened residue.
  4. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the distiller with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main unit in water.
  5. Charcoal Filter Replacement: The charcoal filter should be replaced periodically (e.g., every 2-3 months or as needed) to ensure optimal water quality. Additional filters can be purchased separately.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Distiller not turning on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and a working electrical outlet. Check the ON/OFF switch.
  • Water has an unusual taste (e.g., "sauna taste"): This can occur if the distiller runs completely dry, causing minerals to bake onto the heating element. To mitigate this, stop the distillation cycle before all water evaporates, leaving a small amount in the boiling chamber. Using pre-filtered water (e.g., zero-filtered water) can also improve taste.
  • Water collection container overflows: This indicates the distiller was run for too long or overfilled. Always monitor the water level and ensure the distiller is not run until completely dry if you are not present to manually shut it off. The automatic shut-off is for safety, not for precise volume control.
  • Reduced distilled water output: Ensure the distiller is filled to the maximum line. If you are stopping the cycle early to prevent residue buildup, a slightly lower output is normal.
  • Rust spots or heavy mineral buildup: This is common with hard water. Increase the frequency of cleaning with white vinegar or the provided cleaning agent. Ensure thorough rinsing after cleaning.
  • Power cord or unit overheating: Immediately unplug the unit. This is a serious safety concern. Do not use the unit if the power cord or any part of the distiller shows signs of melting, burning, or excessive heat. Contact customer service for assistance.
