1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your vidaXL Pool Sand Filter with 6-Way Valve, Model 93395. This sand filter system is designed to circulate and clean your pool water, ensuring a hygienic swimming environment. It can be filled with either filter sand or filter balls.
Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use, and retain it for future reference.
2. Safety Information
- Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance or service.
- Ensure the filter system is placed on a stable, level surface.
- Do not operate the pump dry. Ensure it is primed with water before starting.
- Never adjust the multiport valve handle while the pump is running. Turn off the pump first.
- Keep children away from the filter system during operation.
- Refer to local regulations for electrical connections and installation.
3. Product Overview and Components
The vidaXL Pool Sand Filter system consists of a durable filter tank, a powerful pump, and a 6-way multiport valve for easy control. A pressure gauge is integrated for monitoring system performance.

3.1 Key Components
- Filter Tank: Houses the filter media (sand or filter balls).
- Pump: Circulates water through the filter system.
- 6-Way Multiport Valve: Controls the flow of water for various operations.
- Pressure Gauge: Displays the internal pressure of the filter system.
- Connecting Hoses: For linking the pump to the filter tank and to the pool system.

3.2 Multiport Valve Functions
The 6-way valve allows for different operational modes:
- FILTRATION: Normal filtering mode. Water passes through the filter media.
- BACKWASH: Cleans the filter media by reversing water flow.
- RINSE: Used after backwash to flush dirty water from the valve and settle the filter media.
- WASTE: Bypasses the filter, sending water directly to waste (e.g., for vacuuming heavy debris).
- CLOSED: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Never use this position while the pump is running.
- RECIRCULATE: Bypasses the filter, circulating water directly back to the pool (e.g., for chemical mixing).
- WINTER: Position for winterizing the filter system.

Figure 3.3: Pressure Gauge. This gauge indicates the internal pressure of the filter system, crucial for determining when backwashing is needed.
4. Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure all components are present and undamaged. Refer to the diagram for assembly guidance.

4.1 Assembly Steps
- Positioning: Place the filter tank and pump on a firm, level surface, as close to the pool as possible. Ensure adequate ventilation and protection from direct weather.
- Add Filter Media: Remove the multiport valve from the top of the filter tank. Carefully add the chosen filter media (sand or filter balls) into the tank. Consult the product specifications for the correct amount and type of media.
- Install Multiport Valve: Securely attach the 6-way multiport valve to the top of the filter tank. Ensure a tight seal to prevent leaks.
- Connect Pump: Connect the pump to the filter tank using the provided hose and clamps. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Connect to Pool: Connect the filter system to your pool's skimmer/drain and return lines. The "PUMP" port on the valve connects to the pump outlet, the "RETURN" port connects to the pool return, and the "SKIMMER/DRAIN" port connects to the pool's suction line.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the pump to a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the power supply matches the pump's requirements.

5. Operating Instructions
Always ensure the pump is off before changing the multiport valve position.
5.1 Initial Startup (After Filling with Media)
- Ensure all connections are tight and the filter tank is filled with media.
- Set the multiport valve to the BACKWASH position.
- Prime the pump by filling it with water until water flows out of the waste port.
- Turn on the pump. Run for 2-3 minutes or until the water from the waste port runs clear.
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multiport valve to the RINSE position.
- Turn on the pump. Run for 30-60 seconds.
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multiport valve to the FILTRATION position.
- Turn on the pump. The system is now operating in normal filtration mode. Note the initial pressure reading on the gauge.
5.2 Normal Filtration
With the valve in the FILTRATION position, the system will continuously filter your pool water. Monitor the pressure gauge. When the pressure rises 0.2-0.3 bar (3-5 psi) above the initial clean filter pressure, it's time to backwash.
5.3 Backwashing and Rinsing
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multiport valve to the BACKWASH position.
- Turn on the pump. Run until the water from the waste port runs clear (typically 2-3 minutes).
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multiport valve to the RINSE position.
- Turn on the pump. Run for 30-60 seconds to settle the filter media.
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multiport valve back to the FILTRATION position.
- Turn on the pump.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your filter system. This system is designed for low maintenance.
- Backwash Regularly: Perform backwashing as indicated by the pressure gauge (when pressure rises 0.2-0.3 bar / 3-5 psi above clean pressure).
- Inspect Connections: Periodically check all hoses and connections for leaks and ensure they are secure.
- Clean Pump Basket: Turn off the pump, close necessary valves, and clean the pump's strainer basket as needed to remove debris.
- Winterization: Before freezing temperatures, drain all water from the filter tank and pump. Set the multiport valve to the WINTER position. Store the pump and filter in a dry, protected area if possible, or cover adequately.
- Filter Media Replacement: Filter sand typically lasts 3-5 years. Filter balls may require cleaning or replacement more frequently depending on usage.
