3. Paint Preparation: Before use, shake and stir the paint pot thoroughly. The paint is supplied spray-ready and does not require dilution.
4. Primer Application (if applicable): If a primer (undercoat) is included or required for your specific application (e.g., on plastic surfaces), apply it according to its instructions. Ensure the primer is completely dry before proceeding with the base coat application.

Operating Instructions (Application)

Follow these steps for effective application of the MG PRIME Deep Espresso Brown Metallic Base Coat:

1. Initial Spray: Lightly spray the object with the spray-ready base coat. This initial layer is often referred to as a "flash coat" and helps with adhesion and even coverage. Allow it to flash off (evaporate solvents).
2. Base Coat Application: Apply 1 to 2 covering layers of the base coat. Ensure each layer is applied evenly.
3. Drying Time: After applying the final base coat layer, allow the base coat to dry completely. This typically takes approximately 60 minutes, but drying time can vary significantly depending on the object's material and the ambient temperature. Once dry, the lacquer surface will appear completely matte.
4. Clear Coat Application: It is mandatory to cover the dried base coat with a 1C (1-component) or 2C (2-component) clear varnish. The clear coat provides gloss, protection, and durability to the finish.

Coverage: One 1000ml (1 liter) pot of base coat is sufficient for approximately 5.0 square meters (53.8 square feet) of coverage.

Maintenance

Once the paint and clear coat have fully cured, the painted surface can be maintained like any other automotive finish. Regular washing with pH-neutral car shampoo is recommended. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the clear coat.

For long-term protection and gloss retention, consider applying a car wax or sealant periodically.

Troubleshooting

• Poor Adhesion: Ensure the surface was thoroughly cleaned and degreased before application. The surface must be completely dry.
• Uneven Finish/Streaks: This can be caused by improper shaking of the paint, uneven application, or incorrect spray gun settings. Ensure the paint is well-mixed and apply thin, even coats.
• Drying Issues: Ensure the ambient temperature is within the recommended range (20°C to 25°C). High humidity or low temperatures can significantly extend drying times.
• Color Mismatch: Always perform a test spray on a hidden area or a test panel before applying to the main object to verify color accuracy. Ensure the correct paint code (WA204) was used.
• Matte Finish After Clear Coat: Ensure the clear coat was applied correctly and allowed to cure fully. If the clear coat itself is matte, ensure you used a glossy clear coat as intended for this base coat.
