5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to install and connect your BTF-LIGHTING C02Z controller.

5.1 Wiring the Controller

  1. Prepare Components: Ensure you have the C02Z controller, a compatible CCT LED strip, and a power supply (DC5V, DC12V, or DC24V) that matches your LED strip's voltage and provides sufficient current.
  2. Connect Power Input: Connect the power supply to the 'INPUT' terminals on the controller. Ensure correct polarity: '+' to V+ and '-' to V-.
  3. Connect LED Strip Output: Connect your 3-wire CCT LED strip to the 'OUTPUT' terminals. The typical connections are:
    • V+: Common positive wire from the LED strip.
    • CW: Cool White wire from the LED strip.
    • WW: Warm White wire from the LED strip.
  4. Verify Connections: Double-check all wiring for secure connections and correct polarity before applying power.

5.2 Pairing with a Zigbee Gateway

The C02Z controller requires a Zigbee 3.0 compatible gateway for smart control. Ensure your gateway is powered on and within range.

  1. Power On: Connect the power supply to the controller and LED strip.
  2. Initiate Pairing Mode: Short press the 'SET' button on the controller four (4) times consecutively. The connected LED strip should flash to indicate it is in pairing mode.
  3. Search for Device on Gateway: Open your Zigbee gateway's application (e.g., Tuya Smart, Smart Life, Philips Hue, Echo Plus/4th Gen) and initiate the device search function.
  4. Confirm Pairing: Once the controller is found and added, the LED strip will stop flashing and respond to commands from the app.
  5. Troubleshooting Pairing: If the device is not found, try repeating the pairing process (power on/off 5 times to reset, then short press SET 4 times) or ensure the controller is close to the gateway during pairing.

6. Operating Instructions

Once paired with your Zigbee gateway, you can control the C02Z controller using its associated smart home application or voice commands.

6.1 App Control

Through the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app (or your specific gateway's app), you can:

  • Adjust Brightness: Dim or brighten the LED strip from 0% to 100%.
  • Adjust Color Temperature: Change the light from warm white (e.g., 2700K) to cool white (e.g., 6500K).
  • Group Control: Combine multiple C02Z controllers or other smart lights into groups for simultaneous control.
  • Device Sharing: Share control of the device with family members.
  • Automation & Scenes: Create custom schedules, timers, or scenes (e.g., 'Morning Wake-up', 'Movie Night') to automate lighting behavior.

6.2 Voice Control

If connected through a Tuya Bluetooth/WiFi Dual-Mode Gateway, the C02Z controller supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Examples:

  • "Alexa, turn on the living room lights."
  • "Hey Google, set the kitchen lights to warm white."
  • "Alexa, dim the bedroom lights to 50%."

6.3 Auto-Transmitting and Auto-Synchronization

The controller features signal auto-transmitting, allowing it to relay app signals to other C02Z controllers within 99 feet (30 meters). This extends the effective control distance indefinitely, provided there's another controller within range. The auto-synchronization function ensures that multiple controllers can operate in sync, even if activated at different times, when controlled by the same app under the same dynamic mode and speed.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the controller. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Environment: Ensure the controller is kept in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
LED strip does not light up.No power, incorrect wiring, faulty LED strip or power supply.Check power supply connection and functionality. Verify LED strip wiring (V+, CW, WW) and polarity. Test LED strip with a known working power source if possible.
Controller not pairing with gateway. Not in pairing mode, controller too far from gateway, gateway issue.Ensure controller is in pairing mode (short press SET 4 times). Move controller closer to the gateway. Try resetting the controller by powering it on/off 5 times, then re-initiate pairing.
Incorrect color temperature or brightness.App settings, incorrect LED strip type.Verify settings in the smart home app. Ensure you are using a CCT (dual white) LED strip.
Controller loses connection or becomes unresponsive.Zigbee network interference, weak signal, firmware issue.Ensure your Zigbee network is stable. Consider adding more Zigbee router devices if range is an issue. Power cycle the controller and gateway.
Cannot control with RF remote.C02Z model does not support RF remotes. This model is designed for Zigbee gateway and app control only. RF remote control is not supported.
