6. Setup

6.1 Powering the Radio

Your LEOTEC LT-2009 radio can be powered in two ways:

  • AC Power: Connect the provided power adapter to the AC power input port on the radio and then plug it into a standard wall outlet (220V/50Hz).
  • DC Battery Power: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio. Insert two (2) UM-1 size batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment cover securely.

Note: When both AC power and batteries are connected, the radio will primarily use AC power. Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

6.2 Antenna Setup

  • For FM and Shortwave (SW) reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust its angle and direction for the best signal.
  • For AM (MW) reception, the radio uses a built-in ferrite bar antenna. Rotate the entire radio unit for optimal signal strength. The telescopic antenna is not required for AM.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Turning On/Off and Volume Adjustment

  • Turn the Power/Volume Knob clockwise until you hear a click to turn on the radio. Continue turning clockwise to increase the volume.
  • Turn the Power/Volume Knob counter-clockwise to decrease the volume and continue until it clicks off to power down the radio.

7.2 Selecting a Band

  • Rotate the Band Selector Knob to choose your desired frequency band: FM, AM (MW), or one of the Shortwave bands (SW1-9). The selected band will be indicated on the display.

7.3 Tuning to a Station

  • Once a band is selected, slowly rotate the Tuning Knob to scan for available radio stations.
  • Observe the frequency scale on the display to identify the station's frequency.
  • Adjust the antenna (telescopic for FM/SW, rotate radio for AM) for the clearest reception.

7.4 Using Headphones

  • Plug any standard 3.5mm stereo headphones into the Headphone Jack. The internal speaker will automatically mute.
  • Adjust the volume to a comfortable level using the Power/Volume Knob.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals.
  • Storage: If storing the radio for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent corrosion. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
