4. Setup and Preparation

4.1 Surface Preparation

  • Ensure the tile joints are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, old grout residues, or any other contaminants.
  • The adhesive used for tiling must be fully cured and dry before grouting.
  • Remove any spacers or wedges from the joints.

4.2 Mixing Instructions

Fugalite Eco is a two-component product (Part A and Part B). It is crucial to mix them thoroughly in the correct proportions.

  1. Pour the entire contents of Part B (catalyst) into the bucket containing Part A (resin).
  2. Mix using a low-speed electric mixer (300-400 rpm) until a homogeneous, lump-free paste is achieved.
  3. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bucket during mixing to ensure all components are fully incorporated.
  4. Mix for approximately 3-5 minutes. Avoid over-mixing, which can introduce excessive air.
  5. Once mixed, the pot life is approximately 60 minutes at 23°C (73°F). Higher temperatures will reduce pot life.

5. Operating (Application)

5.1 Grout Application

  1. Apply the mixed Fugalite Eco grout using a rubber float or squeegee, pressing it firmly into the joints to ensure complete filling.
  2. Work in small areas to manage the pot life effectively.
  3. Remove excess grout from the tile surface immediately by holding the float at a 45-degree angle and moving it diagonally across the tiles.

5.2 Initial Cleaning

  1. As soon as the grout begins to set (typically 15-30 minutes after application, depending on temperature and humidity), perform initial cleaning.
  2. Use a damp, cellulose sponge, frequently rinsed in clean water, to gently clean the tile surface.
  3. Move the sponge in circular motions to emulsify the epoxy residue and then diagonally across the joints to avoid dislodging the fresh grout.
  4. Change the cleaning water frequently to prevent smearing.

5.3 Final Cleaning and Curing

  • After initial cleaning, allow the grout to cure. Protect the grouted area from foot traffic and moisture for at least 24 hours.
  • Full chemical resistance and mechanical strength are achieved after 7 days at 23°C (73°F).
  • For stubborn haze or residue after curing, use a specialized epoxy haze remover, following the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

6. Maintenance

Once cured, KERAKOLL Fugalite Eco Epoxy Grout requires minimal maintenance due to its non-absorbent and stain-proof properties.

  • Regular cleaning can be done with neutral pH cleaners and water.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh acids, or strong alkaline solutions, as these can damage the tile surface or the grout over time.
  • For heavy-duty cleaning, consult KERAKOLL's recommended cleaning products for epoxy surfaces.

7. Troubleshooting
