1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the B365M IB-R Micro ATX Desktop Motherboard. Designed for 9th and 8th Gen Intel Core Processors, this motherboard offers robust performance and connectivity for your desktop system. Please read this manual thoroughly before proceeding with installation to ensure proper setup and operation.

2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent damage to the motherboard and injury to yourself:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet before touching any components.
  • Wear an anti-static wrist strap or frequently touch a grounded metal object to discharge static electricity before handling the motherboard or other components.
  • Handle the motherboard by its edges to avoid touching sensitive components.
  • Ensure proper ventilation within your PC case to prevent overheating.
  • Keep the motherboard away from moisture and extreme temperatures.

4. Setup

4.1 Motherboard Layout

Familiarize yourself with the key components and connectors on the motherboard.

4.2 CPU Installation (LGA1151)

  1. Open the CPU socket lever and lift the load plate.
  2. Carefully align the CPU with the socket, matching the golden triangle on the CPU to the triangle on the socket. Do not force the CPU into place.
  3. Lower the load plate and secure it by pushing the lever back into its locked position.
  4. Install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.

4.3 RAM Installation (DDR4)

  1. Open the clips at both ends of the DDR4 DIMM slots.
  2. Align the notch on the memory module with the notch in the DIMM slot.
  3. Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place.
  4. For dual-channel operation, refer to the motherboard manual for recommended slot configurations.

4.4 Storage Device Installation

  • SATA Drives: Connect SATA data cables from your storage drives (HDD/SSD) to the SATA 6Gb/s ports on the motherboard. Connect power cables from your power supply to the drives.
  • M.2 SSD: Insert the M.2 SSD into the M.2 slot at an angle, then gently push it down and secure it with the provided screw.

4.5 Expansion Card Installation

Insert PCI Express expansion cards (e.g., graphics card, sound card) into the appropriate PCIe slots until they are firmly seated. Secure them with a screw to the PC case.

4.6 Front Panel and Power Connections

  • Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector and the 8-pin CPU power connector from your power supply to the corresponding ports on the motherboard.
  • Connect the front panel headers (Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED) to the designated pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard diagram for correct pin assignments.
  • Connect front panel USB and audio cables to their respective headers.

5. Operating

5.1 First Boot

After assembling all components, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Power on the system. If the system boots successfully, you should see the BIOS/UEFI splash screen.

5.2 BIOS/UEFI Setup

To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, press the designated key (usually DEL or F2) during the POST (Power-On Self-Test) sequence. In the BIOS/UEFI, you can configure boot order, system time, and various hardware settings.

5.3 Driver and Operating System Installation

Install your preferred operating system (e.g., Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit). After OS installation, install the necessary drivers for the chipset, LAN, audio, and other integrated components. These can typically be found on the manufacturer's website or the provided driver CD/DVD.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean dust from inside your PC case, especially from fans and heatsinks, using compressed air. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

6.2 BIOS Updates

BIOS updates can provide performance improvements, bug fixes, and support for new hardware. Only update the BIOS if necessary and follow the manufacturer's instructions precisely. Incorrect BIOS updates can render the motherboard inoperable.

6.3 Driver Updates

Keep your system drivers updated to ensure optimal performance and stability. Check the manufacturer's website periodically for the latest driver versions.

7. Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.

  • No Power: Ensure all power cables (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU) are securely connected. Check the power supply unit (PSU) and wall outlet.
  • No Display: Verify that the monitor is connected to the correct display output (integrated graphics or discrete graphics card). Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
  • System Instability/Crashes: Check RAM seating, CPU cooler installation, and ensure all drivers are up-to-date. Run memory diagnostic tools.
  • Boot Device Not Found: Check SATA/M.2 cable connections. Verify boot order in BIOS/UEFI.
