5. Setup and Connections
5.1 Rack Installation
The PSSO QCA-10000 MK2 is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting and occupies 2U of rack space. Ensure adequate ventilation space around the unit, especially at the front and rear for airflow.
5.2 Input and Output Connections
Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is turned off and disconnected from the power supply.
- Audio Inputs: Connect your audio source (e.g., mixer, pre-amplifier) to the XLR INPUTs (CH1-CH4) on the rear panel using balanced XLR cables.
- Audio Link: Use the XLR LINK outputs to daisy-chain the audio signal to other amplifiers or devices if needed.
- Speaker Outputs: Connect your loudspeakers to the SPEAKON outputs (SPEAKON 1-4) using appropriate speakON cables. Ensure correct polarity and impedance matching.
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cord to the AC Power Input on the rear panel and then to a suitable mains power outlet.
5.3 Operating Mode and Sensitivity Configuration
The DIP switches on the rear panel allow you to configure the amplifier's operating mode and input sensitivity. Refer to the diagram on the amplifier's rear panel for specific switch settings.
| Switch Setting | Function |
|---|---|
| DIP 1 & 2 (Mode) | Configures Stereo, Parallel, or Bridge mode. Consult the rear panel diagram for specific combinations. |
| DIP 3 & 4 (Sensitivity) | Adjusts input sensitivity (e.g., 0.775V, 1.0V, 1.4V). Consult the rear panel diagram for specific combinations. |
Note: Always power off the amplifier before changing DIP switch settings to prevent damage.
6. Operation
6.1 Powering On/Off
- Ensure all connections are secure and correct.
- Turn down all channel level controls to their minimum setting.
- Switch on the amplifier using the front panel power switch. The amplifier will undergo a brief power-on delay.
- To power off, first turn down all channel level controls, then switch off the amplifier.
6.2 Adjusting Levels
Gradually increase the channel level controls (CH-1 to CH-4) to achieve the desired output volume. Monitor the LED VU meters to ensure the signal is not clipping (CLIP LED should not illuminate frequently or stay lit). If the CLIP LED illuminates, reduce the input signal level from your source or the amplifier's channel level.
6.3 Understanding LED Indicators
- SIGNAL LED: Indicates the presence of an audio signal. It should light up when audio is playing.
- CLIP LED: Warns of signal clipping. Occasional flashes are acceptable, but constant illumination indicates severe distortion and potential damage to speakers. Reduce gain.
- PROTECT LED: Indicates that the amplifier's protection circuitry has been activated. This can be due to overheating, short circuits, DC offset, or other faults. If this LED illuminates, turn off the amplifier immediately, check connections, and allow it to cool down if overheating is suspected.
7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your PSSO QCA-10000 MK2 amplifier.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the exterior of the amplifier with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are free from dust and debris. Periodically clean the fan grilles to maintain proper airflow.
- Connections: Periodically check all cable connections for tightness and signs of wear.
- Storage: If storing the amplifier for an extended period, ensure it is in a dry, dust-free environment.
8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. If the problem persists, contact qualified service personnel.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
