FZONE Automatic Aquarium Water Refiller (Model FZ-360P) - Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the FZONE Automatic Aquarium Water Refiller. This device is designed to maintain a stable water level in your aquarium or fish tank, providing convenience and ensuring a healthy environment for your aquatic life. Its intelligent design incorporates dual optical sensors and an overflow prevention system for reliable operation.

2. Product Features

  • Compact Design & Easy Installation: Weighing only 63 grams, this water refiller is ideally sized for various aquariums. It features magnetic attachment for simple and secure installation on tanks up to 15mm thick, with or without rims.
  • Dual Optical Level Sensors: Equipped with two high-precision optical water level sensors that continuously monitor the water level in real-time, ensuring it remains within the optimal range.
  • Smart Overflow Prevention: An advanced overflow water level sensor significantly minimizes the risk of water overflow due to malfunctions. The system automatically stops if the supply tank runs empty. Additionally, if the refill duration exceeds six times the initial setup time, the controller triggers a visual alarm and halts operation.
  • Intelligent Water Volume Calculation: During initial setup, the system intelligently calculates the tank size based on the time required to fill water from the upper limit (main sensor) to the lower limit (dry sensor). This allows for precise and predictable future water replenishment.
  • Optimized Pump Operation: Designed to prevent frequent pump activation due to minor water level fluctuations (e.g., from breeding activity), which can reduce pump lifespan and efficiency. The pump activates only when the water level is genuinely low, preserving its longevity.
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for various aquatic environments including aquariums and fish tanks. This automation tool provides peace of mind, especially during extended absences, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable aquatic life without constant manual intervention.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to correctly set up your FZONE Automatic Aquarium Water Refiller:

  1. Prepare the Water Source: Obtain a 1.5-2L plastic bottle (not included). Fill it with the appropriate water for your aquarium.
  2. Attach the Adapter: Insert the short hose into the main unit. Attach the conversion adapter to the main unit, then screw the water-filled bottle onto the adapter.
  3. Mount the Unit: Place the main unit onto the rim of your aquarium. If the unit does not fit snugly, use the included adhesive pads to secure it. The unit is suitable for aquarium glass thickness between 3mm and 10mm.
  4. Adjust Hose Length: Cut the hose to your desired water level. The height of the short hose determines the target water level in your aquarium. Ensure the cut is diagonal for better water flow.
  5. Connect the Pump: Connect the DC Refill Water Pump to the PU tubing. Place the pump in your external water reservoir (e.g., a bucket or sump).
  6. Install Check Valve: Install the water check valve in-line with the PU tubing to prevent backflow.
  7. Secure Tubing: Use the hose holder to secure the PU tubing to the aquarium rim, ensuring the water outlet is positioned correctly.
  8. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the Smart ATO Controller and then plug it into a power outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the FZONE Automatic Aquarium Water Refiller operates automatically:

  • Automatic Refilling: The dual optical sensors continuously monitor the water level. When the water level drops below the set minimum, the pump will automatically activate to replenish water from your external reservoir until the desired level is reached.
  • Sensor Indicators:
    • Blue Light (Working): Indicates normal operation and that the system is actively monitoring or refilling water.
    • Red Light (Caution): Indicates a potential issue, such as the refill time exceeding the expected duration (e.g., 6 times the initial fill time), or the supply tank being empty. The system will stop operation when a red light is displayed.
  • Overflow Protection: The integrated overflow sensor acts as a safeguard. If the water level rises unexpectedly above the safe limit, the system will automatically stop the pump to prevent overflow.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your water refiller:

  • Sensor Cleaning: During water changes or as needed, gently clean the area around the optical sensors. Algae buildup can interfere with sensor accuracy.
  • Tubing Inspection: Periodically check the PU tubing for kinks, blockages, or damage. Ensure the check valve is clean and functioning correctly.
  • Pump Inspection: Inspect the DC refill pump for any debris or blockages that might hinder its operation.
  • Power Adapter Check: Ensure the power adapter and all connections are secure and free from damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FZONE Automatic Aquarium Water Refiller, consider the following:

  • System Not Refilling:
    • Check if the external water reservoir is empty.
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the unit is receiving power.
    • Inspect the sensors for algae or debris that might be obstructing their function. Clean if necessary.
    • If the red caution light is on, the system may have stopped due to an extended refill time. Try power cycling the unit (unplug and re-plug the power adapter).
  • Water Level Too High/Overflowing:
    • Verify that the overflow sensor is clean and unobstructed.
    • Ensure the main unit is correctly positioned on the aquarium rim and the hose is at the desired water level.
    • Check the check valve for proper installation and function to prevent siphoning.
  • Pump Not Activating:
    • Confirm the water level in the aquarium is below the activation point of the main sensor.
    • Check the pump for any blockages or damage.
