3. Measurement Guidelines

Accurate measurement is crucial for proper fit and function. Determine whether you will use an inside mount or an outside mount.

3.1. Inside Mount

For an inside mount, the blinds hang within the interior window frame. This provides a clean, integrated look. Measure the exact width and height of the window opening at three different points (top, middle, bottom for width; left, middle, right for height). Use the smallest measurement for both width and height. The window frame must have a minimum depth of 2 inches for proper installation. The selected shade width should be the exact window width (remove fractions, e.g., 34 3/4" becomes 34").

3.2. Outside Mount

For an outside mount, the blinds are installed on the wall or window molding outside the window frame. This can enhance the appearance of the window. Measure the exact dimension for the blind position. To ensure privacy and light control, add at least 3 inches to the measured width and at least 1/2 inch to the top and bottom for overlap. The selected shade width should be the exact window width plus 3"-4" wide. The shade height should be the exact window height plus 1"-2" length.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for installing your zebra blinds. Ensure you have the necessary tools: drill, screwdriver, measuring tape, and pencil.

4.1. Mark Bracket Positions

Based on your chosen mount type (inside or outside), mark the positions for the L-brackets. Ensure they are level and spaced appropriately to support the blind unit.

4.2. Install Brackets

Drill pilot holes at the marked positions. Insert nylon bolts if installing into drywall. Secure the L-brackets using the provided durable screws.

4.3. Attach Blind Unit

Carefully align the headrail of the zebra blind unit with the installed brackets. Push the blind unit firmly into the brackets until it clicks securely into place. Ensure both sides are properly engaged.

5. Operating the Blinds

Your JIANGPIN TEXTILE Zebra Blinds are designed for easy manual operation to adjust light and privacy.

5.1. Adjusting Light and Privacy

The blinds feature a continuous loop chain mechanism. Pulling the chain allows the alternating sheer and solid fabric bands to slide past each other. This enables you to:

  • Light Filtering: Align the sheer bands to allow diffused light into the room while maintaining some visibility.
  • Privacy/Room Darkening: Align the solid fabric bands to block light and provide full privacy. The blackout opacity ranges from 50-70% depending on alignment.

5.2. Raising and Lowering the Blinds

Continue pulling the chain to raise or lower the entire blind unit. The free-stop mechanism allows you to stop the blinds at any desired height without locking. The blinds can be fully rolled into the headrail for an unobstructed view.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your zebra blinds.

6.1. Cleaning Instructions

The blinds are made from 100% polyester fabric, which is breathable and waterproof. For cleaning, spot clean only. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap and water to gently clean any soiled areas. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the fabric.

6.2. General Care

  • Regularly dust the blinds with a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to prevent dirt buildup.
  • Ensure the blinds roll up and down smoothly. Do not force the mechanism.
  • Keep the control chain free from obstructions.
