5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the anemometer.
  2. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw(s) securing the cover.
  3. Remove the battery compartment cover.
  4. Insert four (4) Alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and tighten the screw(s).

5.2 Initial Power On

After installing the batteries, press the Power button (usually marked with a circle and a vertical line) to turn on the device. The LCD display will illuminate, and the device will perform a self-test before displaying measurement readings.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • To turn on: Press the Power button once.
  • To turn off: Press the Power button once.
  • The device will automatically power off after 10 minutes of inactivity.

6.2 Unit Selection

The anemometer can display measurements in various units:

  • Air Velocity: m/s, km/h, ft/min, knots, mph. Use the UNIT button to cycle through these options.
  • Airflow: CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) or CMM (Cubic Meters per Minute).
  • Temperature: Celsius (℃) or Fahrenheit (℉). Use the ℃/℉ button to switch between units.

6.3 Backlight Function

To activate or deactivate the display backlight:

  • Press the LIGHT button.
  • The backlight will automatically turn off after 7 seconds of inactivity to save power.

6.4 MAX/MIN/AVG Readings

The anemometer can record and display maximum, minimum, and average values:

  • Press the MAX/MIN button to cycle through Maximum, Minimum, and Average readings for air velocity and airflow.
  • The device also supports 2/3 Max readings.

6.5 Telescopic Probe Usage

The telescopic probe allows for measurements in confined or elevated spaces:

  • Extend the telescopic rod to the desired length (up to 1.08m).
  • The probe tip can be bent to adjust the angle for optimal measurement.
  • Ensure the probe is positioned correctly in the airflow path for accurate readings.

6.6 Data Output and Software

To export recorded data and analyze it on a computer:

  • Connect the anemometer to your PC using the provided USB cable.
  • Install the supporting software from the included CD.
  • Follow the software instructions to export the 350 sets of recorded data.
  • The software can generate line graphs for visual analysis of your measurements.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the anemometer in its protective case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display to ensure accurate operation.
