1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the VOXELAB Aquila Pro FDM 3D Printer. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your device. Please read it thoroughly before using the printer to ensure optimal performance and safety.

The Aquila Pro features a robust all-metal body, high-precision printing capabilities, a carbon silicon crystal glass platform, resume printing function, filament run-out detection, ultra-silent operation, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 4.3-inch color touchscreen for an enhanced 3D printing experience.

2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Assembly

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. The Aquila Pro is designed for quick and easy assembly.

  1. Place the Printer Base on a stable surface.
  2. Attach the Printer Gantry Frame to the Printer Base using the provided screws.
  3. Mount the Spool Holder onto the designated slot on the gantry.
  4. Connect the Touch Screen to the main unit via its cable and secure it in place.

2.2 Initial Power-On

After assembly, connect the power cable to the printer and a suitable power outlet. Flip the power switch to the 'ON' position. The touchscreen will illuminate, indicating the printer is ready for initial setup.

2.3 Intelligent Bed Leveling

The Aquila Pro features a 9-point intelligent leveling system to ensure optimal first layer adhesion. Navigate to the 'Leveling' option on the touchscreen and follow the on-screen prompts. The printer will automatically probe nine points on the print bed to compensate for any unevenness.

3. Operating

3.1 Filament Loading and Unloading

The Aquila Pro features an upgraded auto-loading/unloading mechanism with an anti-dust cap for smooth filament feeding.

  • Loading: Insert the filament into the extruder's input hole. The printer will automatically detect and feed the filament. Ensure the filament is properly seated.
  • Unloading: Select the 'Unload Filament' option from the touchscreen. The extruder will heat up and then retract the filament.

3.2 Printing via Wireless Connectivity

The Aquila Pro supports wireless file transmission, allowing you to send print files directly from your computer to the printer without needing a USB disk. You can also use a USB stick for file transfer if preferred.

  1. Ensure your printer is connected to your local Wi-Fi network (configure via touchscreen settings).
  2. Use compatible slicing software (e.g., Cura, VoxelMaker) to prepare your 3D model (.gcode file).
  3. Utilize the software's network printing function to send the file to your Aquila Pro.
  4. Alternatively, save the .gcode file to a USB stick, insert it into the printer's USB port, and select the file from the touchscreen to begin printing.

3.3 Using the Touch Screen

The 4.3-inch color touchscreen provides intuitive control over all printer functions, including leveling, filament management, print job selection, and settings adjustments. Navigate through menus by tapping icons and options.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Print Bed Care

The carbon silicon crystal glass platform provides excellent adhesion. After each print, allow the bed to cool down before removing the print. Clean the print surface with isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth to remove any residue, ensuring consistent adhesion for future prints.

4.2 Nozzle Maintenance

Regularly inspect the nozzle for clogs or wear. If extrusion issues occur, try a 'cold pull' or use a thin needle to clear any blockages. Replace the nozzle if it shows significant wear or damage.

4.3 Z-axis Lead Screw

The Aquila Pro features a dual-linear lead screw for stable and accurate Z-axis movement. Periodically check the lead screws for dust or debris and clean them if necessary. Lubricate them lightly with appropriate grease every few months to ensure smooth operation.

4.4 General Cleaning

Keep the printer free from dust and filament debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean the internal components and exterior surfaces regularly.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Print Not Sticking to Bed: Ensure the bed is properly leveled (re-run intelligent leveling). Clean the print bed with isopropyl alcohol. Increase bed temperature slightly if using materials like ABS.
  • Extrusion Problems (Under/Over-extrusion): Check for clogged nozzle. Verify filament diameter and temperature settings in your slicer. Ensure the extruder gear is clean and gripping the filament properly.
  • Layer Shifting: Check belt tension on X and Y axes. Ensure the printer is on a stable surface. Reduce print speed if necessary.
  • Filament Run-out Detection Not Working: Ensure the filament sensor is clean and properly connected. Check for any physical obstructions.
  • Printer Not Connecting to Wi-Fi: Verify Wi-Fi credentials. Ensure the printer is within range of your router. Restart both the printer and router.
