Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your drone for its first flight:

  1. Unfold the Drone Arms: Gently unfold the drone's arms until they lock into place. Ensure all four arms are fully extended.
  2. Install Obstacle Avoidance Module: Remove the protective cover from the gimbal. Carefully install the obstacle avoidance equipment onto the top of the drone. This must be done before powering on the drone.
  3. Install Batteries: Insert the fully charged 7.6V 3400mAh battery into the drone's battery compartment. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  4. Remote Control Setup:
    • Turn on the remote control.
    • Connect your mobile phone to the remote control via Wi-Fi. Search for the drone's Wi-Fi network in your phone's settings and connect.
    • Open the XiL MAX application on your mobile phone.
  5. Pairing and Calibration:
    • Enter Channel Mode: Lay the drone flat on the ground. Turn on the remote control. Long press the drone battery switch for 30-40 seconds until the remote control beeps, indicating successful code-to-code pairing. The monitor will show Mode-1 (optical flow mode).
    • Geomagnetic Calibration: Press the photo button on the remote control for about 5 seconds. The drone lights will flash. Release the button. Pick up the drone and hold it about a meter off the ground. Rotate the drone horizontally clockwise until you hear a beep from the remote. Then, erect the drone with the camera facing down and turn it in a circle clockwise until another beep. Geomagnetic correction is now complete.
    • Gyroscope and Gimbal Level Calibration: Press the speed key on the remote control for about 5 seconds. The drone lights will flash. Release the button. Gyroscope and gimbal are calibrated simultaneously.
    • Search GPS Mode: The drone will automatically enter star search mode. Wait until the number of satellites reaches about 10 to complete positioning. The remote will then enter GPS function with a beep, and the aircraft lamp will be solid bright.

Operating

Mastering the controls and features of your XiL 193MAX1 Drone for an optimal flight experience.

Basic Flight Controls

  • Drone Unlocking: Pull the left and right joysticks of the remote control outward or inward at the same time. The motors will start, and the drone is unlocked.
  • One-Key Take-off: Press the dedicated one-key take-off button on the remote control to automatically launch the drone.
  • Ascending/Descending: Use the left joystick to control vertical movement.
  • Forward/Backward: Use the right joystick to move the drone forward or backward.
  • Left/Right Turning: Use the left joystick to rotate the drone left or right.
  • Left/Right Flying: Use the right joystick to move the drone sideways (strafe) left or right.
  • One-Key Landing: Press the dedicated one-key landing button to automatically land the drone.

Flight Modes and Features

  • GPS Mode: Provides stable hovering and precise positioning.
  • Optical Flow Mode: Ideal for indoor flight or environments with weak GPS signals.
  • Headless Mode: Simplifies flight by orienting the drone relative to the pilot, regardless of the drone's front direction.
  • Speed Shift: Adjust the drone's speed with two available levels for different flight scenarios.
  • Gimbal Adjustment: Use the remote control to adjust the camera's angle during flight.

Intelligent Flight Functions

  • Obstacle Avoidance: The drone features 360-degree omnidirectional obstacle avoidance using a laser radar perception system. This function is most effective at low speeds.
  • GPS Following (Follow Me): The drone will automatically follow your mobile phone's GPS signal, keeping you in the frame.
  • Flight Point (Waypoint Flying): Draw a flight path on the map in the app, and the drone will automatically follow the designated points.
  • Point of Interest (Orbit Flying): Select a point of interest, and the drone will orbit around it, keeping the subject centered in the frame.
  • Soaring Sky: The aircraft flies vertically upwards, capturing a wide view as it ascends.
  • Fly Away: The drone flies away from the starting point while recording, creating a dramatic aerial shot.
  • Spiral: The drone performs a spiral ascent, capturing a unique perspective.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drone.

  • Propeller Replacement: If propellers are damaged, unscrew the old ones and replace them with new ones, ensuring correct A/B vane placement.
  • Battery Charging: Connect the USB charging cable to the battery charging plug. The battery blue lights will flash from left to right when charging. Battery LED will be solid blue after full charge. Full charge takes approximately 150 minutes.
  • Battery Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from flammable materials.
  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the drone body and camera lens with a soft, dry cloth.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and their solutions:

  • Gimbal Alignment: If the camera appears slanted or unstable, the gimbal may need realignment. Perform the gyroscope and gimbal level calibration as described in the Setup section.
  • Aggressive Low Battery Return: The drone is programmed to return home when the battery is low (less than 2 grids on the remote indicator). This is a safety feature to prevent unexpected crashes, ensuring the drone lands safely with remaining power.
  • Color Hue/Backlight Issues: In low-light conditions or with strong backlighting, images may appear blue or very dark. This is a characteristic of the camera's performance in challenging lighting.
  • Obstacle Avoidance Sensitivity: The obstacle avoidance system may be highly sensitive at low altitudes or near obstacles, causing the drone to stop. This is normal behavior to prevent collisions.
  • Drone Shifting While Hovering: In windy conditions, the drone might shift slightly even when attempting to hover. While the drone has Level 7 wind resistance, strong gusts can still cause minor displacement. Manual adjustments may be needed for precise hovering in such conditions.
