Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffeemaker.
- Daily Cleaning:
- After each use, remove and empty the HomeBarista reusable filter cup. Rinse it under running water.
- Empty and rinse the drip tray and its plate.
- Wipe down the exterior of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth.
- Water Reservoir: Periodically clean the water reservoir with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Descaling: Mineral deposits (calcium/lime) can build up in your coffeemaker over time, affecting performance. Descale your coffeemaker regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use. To descale, fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1:1 ratio). Run several brew cycles without coffee until the reservoir is empty. Then, run several cycles with fresh water to rinse thoroughly. Refer to the Cuisinart website for specific descaling product recommendations if desired.
- Grinder Cleaning: For optimal grinding performance, occasionally clean the burr grinder. Unplug the unit. Remove any remaining beans from the hopper. Use a small brush to clear any coffee grounds from the grinder chute.
