3.3. Autofocus System
The camera features a 61-point High Density Reticular AF sensor with 41 cross-type points for precise focusing. Canon's EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Resolution) enhances AF performance by utilizing information from the metering sensor.
- One-Shot AF: Suitable for still subjects. Focus locks once achieved.
- AI Servo AF: For moving subjects. Camera continuously focuses as long as the shutter button is half-pressed.
- AI Focus AF: Automatically switches between One-Shot AF and AI Servo AF depending on subject movement.
3.4. Exposure Metering
The 150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor provides precise exposure and color metering. Select the appropriate metering mode based on your shooting conditions:
- Evaluative Metering: General-purpose metering, suitable for most situations.
- Partial Metering: Meters approximately 6.2% of the viewfinder at the center.
- Spot Metering: Meters approximately 1.5% of the viewfinder at the center.
- Center-weighted Average Metering: Averages the light in the entire frame, with emphasis on the center.
3.5. ISO Sensitivity
The standard ISO range is 100-6400, expandable for specific shooting needs. Adjust ISO to control image brightness in varying light conditions.
3.6. Video Recording
The EOS 5DS supports Full HD 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second (fps). It also features a Time Lapse movie function, which combines still photos taken at set intervals into a full HD movie.
- Set the mode dial to the movie shooting mode.
- Press the Movie shooting button to start and stop recording.
- Adjust video settings such as resolution and frame rate in the camera's menu.
4. Maintenance
4.1. Cleaning the Camera
Regular cleaning helps maintain camera performance and image quality. Use a soft, lint-free cloth for the camera body. For the lens and sensor, use specialized cleaning tools from a camera cleaning kit.
- Camera Body: Wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water.
- Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then a lens cleaning solution and microfiber cloth.
- Sensor: Sensor cleaning should be performed with extreme care using a sensor cleaning kit, or by a professional service center.
4.2. Battery Care
To prolong battery life:
- Charge the battery fully before use.
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Remove the battery from the camera if it will not be used for an extended period.
4.3. Storage
When storing the camera for long periods, ensure it is clean, dry, and stored in a protective bag or case to prevent dust and moisture accumulation.
