Operating Instructions

1. Basic Operation

Once connected, the Dr. HDMI 8K will automatically detect the connected devices and attempt to establish an optimal HDMI handshake. In many cases, this will resolve common display issues without further intervention.

2. EDID Management

The Dr. HDMI 8K's primary function is EDID management. EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is information that a display sends to a source device to describe its capabilities (e.g., supported resolutions, refresh rates, audio formats). The Dr. HDMI 8K can manipulate this data to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

  • Preset EDID Modes: The device comes with 100 pre-configured EDID modes designed to address various compatibility scenarios and optimize signals for different display types and content. These modes can be selected via the device's control interface (webserver/app).
  • Custom EDID Configuration: For specific requirements, you can manually configure and save up to 10 custom EDID settings. This allows for fine-tuning of resolution, refresh rate, color space, and audio capabilities. Refer to the detailed online documentation or web interface for instructions on creating custom EDID profiles.

3. Web Interface Control

The Dr. HDMI 8K features an embedded webserver for comprehensive control and configuration. To access it:

  1. Ensure the device is connected to your network via Ethernet.
  2. Find the IP address of the Dr. HDMI 8K (this may be displayed on the device's OLED screen if available, or found through your router's connected devices list).
  3. Open a web browser on a computer or mobile device connected to the same network.
  4. Enter the device's IP address into the browser's address bar.
  5. The web interface will provide access to EDID settings, firmware updates, and diagnostic tools.

Note: An Android/iOS app may also be available for simplified control. Check the HDFury website for app availability and instructions.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the HDFury website (www.hdfury.com) for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated ensures optimal performance and compatibility with new devices and standards. Firmware updates are typically performed via the web interface.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
